I would put this tobacco firmly in the category of "Mediocre". It's not actively offensive but it's very much at the top end of how much casing can be got away with. On opening the packet the Cognac flavouring is very obvious, as is an almost sickly sweetness. It's very moist (Propylene Glycol..?) and burns leaving considerable dottle. The flavoring in the mouth isn't as dramatic as smelling the tobacco might lead you to expect. There's no real positives to describe.
In my local French tobacconists, good pipe tobacco at a reasonable price is hard to come by. One can either pay over the odds for Davidoff, or buy one of the local brands. Of those BC Royal is actually one of the better ones...!

It is a very pleasant blend to the smell. So definitely a great tobacco when you have company. However I haven't been able to taste a single thing from this tobacco
