The first thing I noticed was that no Black Cavendish or Burley is to be found to carry the added flavors. The tin note is candy sweet and should be overwhelming for naturalists. Imagine a ready rubbed Orlik Golden Sliced with a top flavor, where the caramel is the first and nougat the second to notice, predominantly in the nose. In taste the bright VAs come through quite nicely, including a slight sting or edge often described, though. The use of a filter makes it smoother, but at the same time the VAs faint. The room note is caramel indeed.
Since Kleinlagel’s series is being manufactured at DTM, similarities to Sweet Vanilla Honey Dew become obvious rather quickly with this particular type of flavor. Caranou is a high quality aromatic for VA lovers, better than many aromatics out there, but not the best in the series IMO.
