Definitely heavier on the cavendish side of things, with a bit of a sweet side. In the pouch, this stuff smells pretty great. Sweet with a hint of vanilla or something similar.

Packed about 3/4 of a bowl, one char light, one tamp, one relight, and smoked almost entirely to ash.

Smoke is thick, but relatively mild. The cavendish is definitely driving things here. Sweet, but not overbearingly so. Not overly strong, and no tongue bite. Smoked outdoors, but the "room note" wisping back in my nostrils was pretty pleasing.

I split a pouch of this with a friend, so I'll be revisiting it down the road.

This is a respectably decent all rounder with a fairly low nicotine level. It consists of mainly a dark cavendish, (about 70%), which is reflected in the taste. It is exceptionally smooth with nothing in the way of bite, odd mouth feel, chemical flavors, or harshness, which in my book scores high points.

The tin note is pleasant with a molasses type of sweetness, and a hint of dried fruit such as raisin or dates, and maybe vanilla or nutmeg if you use your imagination; you could say a bit like a Christmas cake or something like that.

Upon smoking, the phrase "sometimes the best surprise is no surprise" comes to mind. The flavor is is well balanced and neutral; giving an organic and earthy type of taste with just a little non-descript, pleasant sweetness that is well integrated to the inherent tobacco taste.

The flavors are somewhat homogeneous, especially considering its called the "gourmet blend", I would say its more "meat and potatoes" than "gourmet" but there's nothing wrong with that. It's primarily the cavendish that comes through, with the burley and virginias not being so obvious, however they do play a supporting role in what is a well blended mixture and I feel would be missed if were not present.

The only thing I would change for myself is I wish that it had a bit more nicotine. It's mildness is fairly evident, and it always leaves me just a little shy of satisfied; that being said it does burn very well and clean, and if one does find themselves puffing a bit harder to get more it wont punish you for it with harshness. However a more casual smoker might find it quite ideal on account of it's lighter level.

This is something that I would consider good enough to buy again and would recommend it to weekend or occasional type smokers who wants something that is smooth, easy to smoke, and wont overwhelm them with tons of body and nicotine.

since this is my first real review I will likely revise later. first, super smooth and rich smoke. unlike other otc, they use heat sealed zip lock bags. NO PG!!!!! NO BITE!!!!! the moisture is just right for puffing but does require a couple of relights if ignored. flavor is semi sweet with a little tang and gets a little stronger near the bottom of the bowl. burns to the bottom with nice white ash and minimal goop to clean. room note: the wife really likes this one and I have had several comments from neighbors too. some say it smell like swiss chocolate. great for after dinner or all day for that matter.
