Gawith Hoggarth Plum and Rum.
The unlit mix is very even in its sizes, most of the pieces are about 3 quarters of a c.m long and considering this is an aromatic there is not a strong aroma of additives coming from the mix, a more delicate Fruit and Rum touch which makes a nice change as a lot of aro's have an immense smell to them. It is of a superb moistness and is ready to smoke right from the start. This one lights superbly and gives a really constant/steady burn which doesn't keep going out unless you leave it without attention for too long. The flavour of the smoke is delicious, just like the unlit aroma the Rum and Plum taste is not like a smack in the face but more of a very gentle note which leaves plenty of room for the Virginia to be appreciated without being totally masked. Vitamin N is spot on, neither too strong nor too light and it is a complete doddle to inhale if you choose to. Tongue bite does not happen unless I really strain hard and even then it is quite minor. The room note is a fairly standard Virginia one with a slight Fruitiness there as well. This is a very pleasing "delicate" aromatic , due to the lighter aspect of it the pipe is not left saturated with a plum and rum flavour and also it would make a great starter to aromatics as it is not overly flavoured or it would suit someone who likes a milder aromatic.
Four stars.
