This is a nice blend of a sweet black Cavendish, similar to Lane's BCA, with bright Virginia and Burley tobaccos as the description says. The pouch aroma is very similar to BCA. It has a more complex taste and aroma due to the added leaf varieties, and those who find the straight black Cavendish boring will prefer this. (It's one of the three most popular tobaccos sold in my local smoke shop, under a local proprietary name.) It has a very nice room note, heavy on the vanilla, and gets a good reception from nonsmokers. I think it's a little faster and drier burning than the straight black Cavendish. It has an interesting texture in that the main black Cavendish component and one of the light brown components (the Burley?) are ribbon cut, while the other light brown component (the Virginia?) is in rather coarse flakes. I like this one a lot. Give it a try.
Returning to the pipe after 30 yrs, picked up an ounce each of this and IQ to run in my new Savinelli 320 rusticated (Merry Christmas!)... The IQ is delightful but, well, lite... this has more to it if you will... what some appear to call complexity. A better smoke when you have more on your mind. A little more punch and a broader range of flavors. I think I am going to pack the first two thirds of my next bowl with it and top it off with IQ... then try out the other way 'round. To be fair I am still learning how it wants to pack but once I've got a good top char / retamp / relight it's a glory smoke. Enjoy!
