Mac Baren Cube Bronze

(2.92)
To create this mild, yet satisfying blend Mac Baren has combined loose-cut golden Virgina, ready-rubbed Burley, and a special Virgina Cavendish... along with twenty four other (evidently secret) components. the resulting smoking mixture is smooth, and sweet, topped with what they describe as an exotic, fresh vanilla aromatic.

This is a ribbon cut Danish aromatic with just a little broken flake, and hydrated to the perfect level for smoking. The tobacco smells stronger in the pouch than in the room or your mouth. Mildly pungent; less so than the other two blends in this series. Mild and very creamy with several fruit flavors including raspberries, though the cherry note stands out slightly more. The vanilla from the black cavendish is light, and works well with a more prominent semi-sweet and smooth cocoa essence. The various fruit toppings cause this to not taste like a cherry-chocolate blend in spite of their mutual presence. Burns well, cool and even and has a very consistent, complex flavor. The nic-hit is mild. Won't bite or get harsh. Requires few relights and leaves little moisture in the bowl. A well blended mixture with little of the fragrance of the Gold and Silver, it is the least sweet Cube blend.

This is a tricky blend to nail down. It's a good blend, mind you, but a tricky one. I'll describe it, as the others did, as very fruity, but exactly what fruit is present...that's a tough one. Somewhere in between cherry and raspberry, but more cherry than raspberry, and although the description above mentions vanilla, I noted more chocolate than anything. So it's a fruity in the vein of cherries with chocolate, and yet, not quite like a chocolate covered cherry....more like a dessert that contains both ingredients. At any rate, I am sure from my description you can see there is a lot going on in this blend. It is a very good blend. Not bitey or overly wet. When I noted the flavors to my wife, she agreed that the room note smelled just as the taste I described. It was difficult for her to nail down as well.

This particular blend has a rich and decadent flavor that marries well with the blended tobaccos. It isnt a light and delicate flavor like peaches, but instead carries more flavor weight like a cup of coffee. Very pleasant and not overbearing. This is not a knockout aromatic flavoring, and if it were to ghost a pipe, I would think it would take a couple bowls before anything was retained.

This is a very nice fruit and chocolate/vanilla blend. It's no Halberg Green, but it is in the same vein and is sure to be a welcome treat at the end of a long day.

This is the last of the cube samples I was given some time ago and I am happy to report that this was my favorite of the three. I still have the head scratching thought of why would they use so many different leaves to cover it all with a heavy topping. With the gold and Silver I did not like the topping, so it killed the whole experience.

I can't say that I really liked the topping with Bronze, but it was much more enjoyable than the other two. It does leave a great room and mustache note however; and that is typically important with an aromatic and to the aromatic fanciers. The topping on this is both fruity and vanilla, a combination I tend to favor in aromatics.

Also important amongst aromatics, this is a biteless smoke to my tastes and will not make a goopy mess of your pipes. Overall, it is a good aromatic and worthy of 3 stars.

I am giving this one 3 stars just because it is a well done aromatic that appeals to me, but as is the case with almost all aromatics, it comes down to your own personal impressions on the toppings. If you don't like the topping it won't matter what is underneath it.

Although Mac Baren indicates more than a score of different tobaccos in Cube Bronze, it simply tasted like a quality Vanilla flavored Cavendish and Burley aromatic (mostly), to me. I did detect the Virginia from time to time but the backbone of that leaf was spindly and gave way to the Burley and Aromatic agents for the most part. I enjoy Vanilla Bean blends from time to time and this was a good one.

Another bell-ringer from Mac Baren. This and Halberg Green are the best premium aromatics I've smoked. Tastes like it smells, with a delicious vanilla-cacao flavor that includes light, fruity undertones.

Complex, mild but not boring or light, it delivers a satsfying, clean and lightly sweet smoke, non-syrupy and never tiring. Never burns hot or bites; best when sipped. Mixes well with stronger blends as well. For context, I enjoy this much more than Silver.

Again, trying Cube bronze brought as much pleasure than its brother Silver. The casing is chocolate and vanilla but the chocolate prevails. The cut is exactly the same as Silver, thus ribbon cut, loose cut and flakes; not curly cut as announced in the description. Bronze, like Silver, is for the experienced smoker, i.e. the one that can pace himself and smoke this beauty slowly. If he can, he will then be rewarded with rich and silky flavours of creamy chocolate, not overwhelming, but very distinctively perceptible. At the same time, he will experience an aromatic that also offers the taste of tobacco which, in my experience, only the Cube line offers so far. Highly recommended. I can't wait to try Gold...Cube tobaccos rock, gents!

I have recently taken to Danish blends and this, along with Halberg Green is at the top of my list. A well-blended quality tobacco. I am not sure I can completely nail down all of the flavors, but it has a solid vanilla base. If you like vanilla and are looking for something different, look no further. Not to mention it has the most unique packaging I have ever seen.

Best of the Cubes! As with all of cubes, these tend to give me a little bite. However, for this one, t's early in the bowl and then settles down nicely. After the first 1/4 of a bowl this blend is a quality aromatic that gives a great taste.

Cube Bronze is a remarkable aromatic. I don't know how Mac Baren manages to create aromatics that are so deeply cased while I can still fully taste the tobacco. But it is the case with this series of tobaccos. Cube Bronze is a superior aromatic tobacco that I totally enjoy every time I smoke it. The vanilla and chocolate flavorings are delightful; and they are not chemical to the nose and tastebuds like so many other aromatics are. It burns well and it burns dry when at appropriate moisture level. Cube Bronze is for the aromatic lover that demands nothing less than the best.
