This is a premium aromatic blend, sure to please any aromatic fans and everyone who's lucky enough to be in the same room. I have smoked this one many times, in various different pipes, and have never been disappointed. It's always a top-notch experience, both for experienced smokers as well as beginners.
The tobacco burns well, after a bit of drying time it needs only a few relights (depending on the smoker, the pipe, and the weather, of course).
The smoke is nice and velvety in texture due to the Cavendishes.
Flavorwise it's hard to pick out individual flavors due to the superb blending. I detect vanilla, a hint of cocoa, bourbon, and some hazelnut (if I would have to guess, the Cavendishes seem mostly Burley-based). All of the added flavors blend very well with some of the natural tobacco flavor. On the retro-hale I'm getting some nutty, woody notes similar to Burley, and a hint of fruit, cherry or plum.
If you find yourself in Portland, Oregon, do yourself a favor and get yourself some of this.
