Notes: Produced since 1935, by TEKEL (Turkish State Monopolies), and nowadays by Tabac Turc (a private company), refering to a historical company called "Tabacs Turcs S.A." established in Switzerland by TEKEL. This tobacco is produced in old mechanical tobacco machines (one of them as old as 1925 model), with the traditional recipe.
Here is the brother of Turkish pipe tobacco. Mainly it is so sweet so pure also so flat taste and dark broken wet flakes you will see.Hard to burn it and burns slowly.
Generally after some smoking it seems so much boring.I think can not smoking it with directly but if you are a curious to make mixture, nightcap is the best friend to do it.Yayladag reduces nightcaps strength and giving satisfying smoking without losing taste of nightcap.
Note for two turkish tobaccos(yayladag-TPT):this tobacco only must buy at actual and active tobaccoshops because if you have it from buffets, markets or street sellers you may have faulty, rotten or different tobaccos in the same pouch
I can clearly say that this is a totally different experience from any other pipe tobacco. Unlikely any other, Yayladag is a blend of tobaccos growing in Yayladağ (Hatay), İzmir and Bitlis (Oriental), with %24 fire cured tobacco, so it provides Yayladağ to establish a more balanced aroma and a sweet taste compared to Türk Pipo Tütünü (TPT) from the same manifacturer. I think that this is one step further than %60 of tobaccos which can be found in the market now, but still the packaging and the moistness should be revised. As a Turkish pipe smoker, i am in an expectance for other blends from Tabac Turc.
different experience with broken flake. It is a little bit hard to light tobacco, than it burns slowly. Licorice root gives this tobacco an unique taste. However package and marketing is dreadfully bad.
This tobacco has a sweet aromatic taste. It was my top rated tobacco. It gives you a taste of the sugar after smoking. Nowadays, pouch is so dampish that it burns like a water pipe... Tabac Turc has deteriorated...
When I fresh opened the package, it had moisture, which was OK at first. But if not stored properly, it can go bad. Also, it had sugar crystals on the leaves. I had to let it dry before packing in the pipe. It had a nice smoke but the tobacco got wet though the end of the bowl. I recommend it if you can find good stored package, which is hard even in Turkey.
This is a very unique tobacco. It deserves a worldwide awareness. There is only one draw back: it gets boring when you smoke consequtively. You cant smoke a yayladag all day long.
