The Virginias are bright and dark, offering some grass and earth, citrus and a light dark fruitiness. The burley is a supporting player, barely nutty, mostly toasty and dry tasting. The minute amount of perique is spicy with a very few raisin notes, and mostly underscores the taste of the other components. The description claims there's a nougat topping, but it has virtually no effect. The flake was a little dry, and burned well with a very consistent flavor as it burned to ash. There is a very slight rough edge, but it's fairly smooth for the most part. Little moisture in the bowl, and needs few relights. Has a mild nic-hit. No chance of bite. The after taste is pleasant, and the room note won’t bother many people. An all day smoke.
This was a gift from a friend who had bought it in Germany. It is virginia forward with bright and slightly sweet citrus notes. It has a light touch with the perique which provides a little spice. The burley gives it a mellow, smooth quality, but it is hard to distinguish specific burley notes. This was a very pleasant smoke.
I rubbed mine out and it came a little dry. It was an excellent moisture for smoking. If this were available in the US at a reasonable price I could see this becoming a staple in smoking lineup.
