Sutliff Tobacco Company RC-272

(4.00)
English style blend of Latakias, perique, and fine quality Virginia tobaccos cut in a cavendish style for cool, mild smoking pleasure.
Notes: Sutliff's website description: A smorgasbord of leaf: burley, Virginia, flue cured, Smyrna, and Latakia. Three flavors: vanilla, rum, and cinnamon further enhance this rather remarkable English style blend.

I have to admit this is my daily smoke on the trip to and from work. I buy it at W. Curtis Draper under the name Lawton. I don't know how widely this is distributed. It is an excellent light English blend. Everyone who smells the pouch aroma notes that it has a latent sweetness. It doesn't burn hot at all. I also take this when I am traveling. If you want something to smoke all day, give this a try. There are a couple of other brands/blends I have tried over the years that are close; Light Balkan from Grant's and Georgetown Tobacco's Councilman are the only two that come to mind at the moment.

Updtated 11/28/12 Found out that Georgetown uses Altadis Light English for Councilman, which may explain similarity to this blend. The other reviewer is incorrect - W. Curtis Draper is still alive and well in a new location - around the corner, on 15th Street in DC and has a location in Bethesda (formerly Bethesda Tobacco).

Updated 10/12/13 My pleasure to share info. I'm a fan of Smoke Shop in Annapolis, as well as Draper. Have favorite blends at both - and now know some share - like this one and some from Stokkebye. Both fine local shops deserving of patronage.

Went to The Annapolis Smoke Shop and asked for an all day English and this blend was recommended. Got some history along with it. A tobacco distributor in Pennsylvania called Red Lion used to sell this and went out of business,it is now sold by Altadis under the current name. The Smoke Shop sells it as Seminar and is the perfect all day English smoke. Very unobtrusive aroma-wise but the english taste is still there. Moisture content is perfect and burns extremely well if one takes their time. For the heavy Latakia-phile, you may puff too hard to get some taste but if you treat it as a Virginia you will be well rewarded in subtlty. I cannot distinguish any individual tobacco that stands out...it's just a good blendation (Funn Dictionary). This is an excellent blend if you lke to keep a pipe in your mouth most of the day as I do. Very cool to the palate, and can be exhaled out of the nose without hairization(Funn Dictionary).Good tobacco taste. No flavorings, seems to be all-natural.... Try it ...if you can find it. Curtis Draper is no longer in existence, unfourtunently.

Update 2/9/13..Thanks for the update RyinMD. I'll definently check out both locations.I heard Duke retired to the Eastern Shore..
