A mild and smooth English/latakia blend. The latakia is sprinkled in nicely: not overdone yet always present. The virginias taste good, and the cavendish lends a smooth, sweet bottom to the flavor. No tongue bite.
A good smoke for someone new to English blends. The blend doesn't distinguish itself from all the good, let alone great, english blends out there, but it is still a solid and enjoyable smoke. Basically, I would be happy to smoke through another bag but I'm not motivated to go and actually buy one.
From a "must see/visit" venerable, old tobacco shop in Harvard Square, if you are in the area of course!

I have used this as my first venture into English style tobacco. This is a great way to start and makes me want to explore other non-aromatic tobaccos. The other great thing about this tobacco is getting it from Leavitt and Peirce, this is quite a place and I will be going back!

This blend should really be called "Balkan Light" as it really is a light to medium/light English blend. The blend is well put together and not a bad smoke. It packs well, the moisture level is fine and it burns cleanly. The problem is that it doesn't stand out in a world currently filled with great bulk English blends. Although not at the level of Peretti's, L&P is an interesting shop with a very long history and sits just across the street from Harvard. If you are a pipe smoker on a visit to the Boston area, it's well worth the visit to buy a couple of ounces of this blend and take in the sites. It's just not interesting enough to cellar.

If Boston Baked Beans float your boat, so will this Boston Pipe shop's Balkan No. 1. It is a true balkan style blend that is not strong, does not overwhelm, yet satisfies the pipers who enjoy a rather middle of the road English smoke. And, of course, with such a long standing historical shop offering this one, it made me feel, well, nostalgic while smoking it.
