Being an EM fan, I try sometimes to make some homemade blends, using straight Virginias, Perique, Oriental and Latakia or adding Latakia to some mild/poor mixtures. I'm using Robert McConnell, Torben Dansk and Wellauer Latakia. Torben Dansk's is very good indeed although my favourite Wellauer's is more intriguing, more subtle. 4,5/5 in my personal rating system.
This is a blending tobacco (pure cypern Latakia) and you can only use it as a component in our own mixtures. Well, the tobacco is quite good, but there is something better in the market. Less intense than others, this Latakia is mild and you need a great amount in your personal english mixture if you want to have a good latakia taste. Anyway this tobacco is more than sufficient and in my personal system rating (from 1 to 10) the score is 7 and two stars and a half.
My first contact with the holy smoked leaf.Good for straight smoking, less strong than in many blends, that´s the craftmanship of blenders.Good marriage with Perique.I can´t understand the reason because many people seem afraid of smoking straight,it is a nice and nothing overhelming experience,so you can appreciate the real master blenders and know the botching mixtures.
