BTW, contrary to a below review stating this is an all Virginia blend, my recent tins state: A Danish style ready rubbed blend of Virginia,Burley and Black Cavendish...

This is a very interesting aromatic blend. I am smoking this blend as I write this review and have finished most of the 50 gram tin. I purchased this from Smokingpipes.com after reading the tin description: A classic Danish Pipe mixture with smooth vanilla and cream candy aroma.

This mixture is a very European Aromatic, not overly moist or goopy in the least. A light brown Danish Cavendish, not the black lane stuff in your tobacconists jar, this has a Candy Corn aroma essentially a vanilla brown sugar scent and taste but nowhere near overwhelming. The more I smoke of this the more it has grown on me. I am truly surprised there are not more reviews for this as the price is right at $8 or so, it doesn't bite, has a decent nicotine hit and a lovely room note. What's not to like? I wish Macbaren made blends like this since I love their aromatics top notes but cannot stand the bite and heat of which this has none..

*** As a side note I've noticed reviewers are putting their age under "age" in the reviewer section. Just makes me laugh seeing a 69 year old tobacco 🙂 ***

Dan Tobacco - Holmer Knudsen's.

The blend is coarse: some big leaves, ribbons, square pieces, and broken flakes. The aroma's sweet, and the moisture in my tin was decent; good for imminent smoking, albeit, maybe too dry for long-term storage.

At first the sweetness monopolizes the smoke, being crisp and clean. It takes until the burn's settled for the vanilla-cream to catch up, and when it does it results in a thick, delicious, smoke. I can see how it may overpower a few folks, but I find it superb! It tastes like very sweet vanilla-custard. Because the tobacco is straight Virginia it gets somewhat lost behind the heavy casing, and gives very little flavour. But, makes a pleasant change to the heavy black cavendish aromatics. It burns slow and even, giving a cool, bite-free, smoke.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: nice.

Holmer Knudsen is a four star aromatic:

Highly recommended.

Dan Tobacco is almost a guarantee. Of course, a blend can like it or not, we can say though, that tobacco use high quality, and has worked really good. He has such a variety of blends, which is almost impossible not to find something for your taste. This is a great velvety Blend, a caress in a smoke, sweet enough to not get tired. Maybe for my taste too "creamy" as the description says. However to try it!

Dan makes a great vanilla product (Sweet Vanilla Honeydew), and in many ways Holmer Knudsen was similar, but the performance missed the mark this time around.

The tin gives off an inviting sweet aroma with honest authenticity; my nose wondered if actual crushed vanilla bean was present, tempered with some mild fruitiness. Like many aromatic imports (or so I've been told) there aren't added preservatives, so thankfully this weed didn't drip from wet toppings. Another similarity was the broken flake, which keeps a nice density when gently rubbed and packed. Moisture was fantastic, though there were more relights than expected.

I wasn't so much impressed with the lit product. The vanilla taste warped into a less-than-pleasant semi bitter flavor, riding atop a smoke that had a medium kick. Perhaps they crammed too much sweet whatnots in here, tilting the effect backwards. The final similarity was the sweet aftertaste in the saliva.

In the end it was an inferior Sweet Vanilla Honeydew. I will however cellar the rest to see if some aging may save it.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. Upon opening the tin I was greeted with nice large chunks of cake tobacco that needed a tad of rubbing out, as well as a delicious, classic aroma. You can tell this is great quality tobacco, as the leaves are nice and it is without sticks and twigs. When smoking it has a nice light tobacco flavor that comes through the delicious aromas of the smoke. Stays lit well and has a near perfect moisture level directly from the tin... can maybe stand to be in a pouch a day or two or on a tray for 15 minutes before smoking, but I don't think you will suffer if you don't. The room note is nice and leaves my pipe smelling nice as well without any harshness.

This tobacco did not show well. It was purchased on sale and had been on the store shelf well sealed for quite some time. The tobacco was a little dry and did not age well. Much of the fragrance had dissipated and there was not much taste, either from tobacco or flavoring. Hydrating did not help much. Oh well such is life.

In smoking experience, this tobacco is smoked for the benefit of room note on the same order as Blue Note. It is an aromatic of the first order. The tobacco itself is in the very mild range and nothing to write home about. Will keep the non smoking crowd off your back for sure. I smoke this only for this reason. Captain Black or Blue Note would give you a better tobacco experience. Room Note Hall of Fame candidate.
