The nutty, woody, earthy, lightly molasses sweet burley is the lead component. The Virginia offers a lot of citrus and grass as a close competitor. The sugary unsweetened black cavendish tames potential rough edges. The mildly rich vanilla is the most obvious topping with the honey, chocolate and nougat following in defending order. There’s a couple of drops of molasses added, too. The toppings tone down the tobaccos to a moderate extent. The strength is a couple of steps past the mild mark, and the taste level is a rung beyond that. Has a low nicotine content. Won’t bite or get harsh. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent flavor from top to bottom. It does leave a little moisture in the bottom, but not enough to goop. Requires an average number of relights. Has a pleasant, short lived after taste and room note. An all day smoke.

This was one of the first tobaccos I've tried and was purchased at the Briary in Homewood, Alabama. I've purchased several tobaccos from them and they have two of my all time favorites. Unfortunately, Chart Topper was not one of them.
The quality of the tobacco is excellent, the moisture content just right, it packs nice in the bowl and burns evenly. I think this is more of a case of "not my taste". I didn't dislike it, but didn't think enough of it to want to smoke my entire 3oz sample.
I will say that I sent the rest to my Father-in-Law and he had a totally different report. He said he found it slightly spicy and enjoyed it with a drink after dinner. He smoked it all and even ordered more since. If you like tobacco with a little kick, this might be for you.
