The vanilla and caramel are the star flavors, and dominate the tobaccos, though you will get a little grassiness from the Virginia. Burns well and cool, but will leave some moisture in your bowl. No bite. This is one of the quintessential "all day smoking blends", and though it's not a complex mixture, that works to its advantage for people who just want a pleasant, no nonsense, comfortable smoke. In other words, it's I-Q.

My wife purchased my first pipe for me a little over a year ago, and the tobaconist she purchased it from was The Briary in Homewood, Alabama. She spoke with the owner by phone (Skip), who was super helpful and friendly. He suggested several blends for a new pipe smoker, and Yorkshire was one of them.

I ended up liking two of the three recommended tobaccos, and Yorkshire is definitely one of them. This is still my favorite tobacco and I smoke it regularly. It is smooth, creamy, burns evenly and has an incredible flavor of vanilla and caramel. It's not strong, but very flavorful.

Yorkshire comes in bulk, is slightly moist, but not damp or clingy. It's easy to pack and everyone I've smoked it around loves the smell. I've dedicated that first pipe, which is a Wiley with a large V-shaped bowl and a plateau top, to Yorkshire.
