I thought the apricot taste was a little syrupy, but pleasant with a light bit of cream. There's hints of vanilla in spots, and I could get a little nut and molasses from the toasty burley on occasion. The black cavendish is unsweetened, and provides some brown sugar. I guess the alcohol taste was whiskey, but the recipe states that brandy is here, too, and the clash throws me off from properly describing it. It burned okay, though it got goopy, and I'm a slow puffer who doesn't get much moisture in the bowl. I dried out some of it, which improved the smoke without losing any of its creamy quality, but there was an essence of perfume that just wouldn't go away. Has almost no nicotine, and won't bite. Not an all day smoke.

This is the "Hey Babe, you'll love the smell of this one" tobacco after trying to acclimate the fairer sex to English blends. They will love it!!!
Fire it up in public, and strangers become friends.
Tin aroma, taste, and room note all hint to apricot brandy.
Not a tobacco worthy of prose, but it has a place in the rotation.

I recently received several tins of C&D flavored tobaccos that a fellow reviewer thought I might like to try and then review. Apricots and Cream is the first one I tried. I find this aromatic to have a heavenly room note and an equally sweet taste as the smoke washed over my tongue.
Typical of C&D, the tobacco was of good quality and nobody makes better aromatics than this fine blending house. Quality leaf all the way. The bottom of the bowl will be very wet once the smoker finishes with the leaf. I used a pipe reserved for aromatics as I believe the added flavoring will hang arund for awhile.

Cornell & Diehl - Apricots & Cream.
The blend looks a little strange, it's more sticky than damp, if that makes sense? It isn't too coarse, the blend's very manageable. It might be sticky, but it can still be smoked fresh.
This is a noisy little blighter! I've never known a blend crackle and pop so much whilst being lit! Once lit though, darn the smoke's thick! The apricots aren't as strong as the pouch-note, they're a mild enhancement, but not too headstrong. There's also some alcoholic piquancy, but this isn't particularly formidable. The non-aromatic side is dominated more-so by the black Cavendish, being cool, vanilla-like, and sweet; this works nicely with the creamy aromatic addition.
The nicotine's mild, and the room-note's heavenly!
A lovely aromatic:
Highly recommended.

I have been puffing on this for about three days now and have been overloaded with compliments from people at work and at home. The room note must be exellent and the taste is very good also. It has a very good aroma in the nostrals ( I think its the brandy) and is also made from very high quality tobacco. I like burley blends and I assume this must have some burley in it as it has that light summertime smoking quality I like in burley tobacco. I ordred this straight from C&D and when it arrived it was just moist enough and ready to go. I have been puffing on it rather hard, as I can't get enough of the flavor, and so far I have not suffered from tounge bite. This is by far the best all black blend I have ever smoked and recomend it to the aromatic fan and the burley or virginia smoker looking for something more pleasant to the folks around them.

This is a very interesting tobacco. 4 x smoked and found it very hot. Smoked in 3 different pipes. Until then it was hot. Very artificial flavoring and for being the bulk came a little parched. I decided to try one more time and I was surprised too. 5 It seems another tobacco. What modified? Used a 9mm filter. Rainy and cold weather. And smoking VERY slow. Already smoke tobacco slowly but this needs to be VERY smooth in smoked. Are three simple factors that completely change this tobacco. To me if you know smoking it ceases to be a 2 star rating to 10. Some coffee blends perfectly with this sweet burley.

Seems to be pure Dark Black Cavendish Tobacco, made with only Burley Tobacco.
Their taste is full of Burley, the flavour of Apricots is residual, is only in the room smoke only.
In the pouch, the smell is very good and strong.
Smoking, this tobacco is a "strong stuff", and not so sweet (in contrast with the majority of the aromatics) and their smoke is charged of ammonia, very strong, very bitter smoke and burns the tongue easily. also, is burns so hot.
The Room Note is very pleasant, but very strong also.
This tobacco may have many smokers that like this (bu not all), and the residual smell is dominant, many minutes,

I bought this tin nearly a year ago and forgot I had it in my cellar. Opening the tin revealed loose, coarse cut tobacco in various sizes and in different hues of browns and black, making it almost look like little slivers of chocolate. The tin aroma was of apricots and some kind of liquor. This tobacco was sticky to the touch and a bit dry which could be a result of its age.
An unlit sip filled my mouth with the fruitiness of the apricot flavor and the charring light was no different except for the edition of an underlying hard liquor taste that was not overpowering. As I progressed down the bowl, the topping was always lurking within the tobacco, which was delightful. Every so often I tasted the nuttiness of the burley component, but the topping seemed to hold out well, so these times were very rare. With controlled puffing, this blend did not get too hot, nor did it burn the tongue. The tobacco burns to a nice gray ash, and it leaves a very pleasing room note. This blend has a long finish; I could taste the flavor for quite some time after smoking it
I like the taste of this blend, especially the syrupy sweetness of the apricot flavoring. I would imagine this is an apricot brandy topping, given the occasional taste of alcohol, and I like that it never seemed to burn off, but was genuinely infused in the leaf. I also like that it did not leave a sticky mess in my bowls as some aromatics will. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a really sweet dessert smoke that has experience with aromatics. A proper smoking rhythm is really helpful with this blend, as it is to all blends. I have no doubt I will be buying more, it will be a good blend to have on hand.

One of my favorite Black Cavendish Aromatics. An excellent choice any time of the year, but particularly suitable for hot days in my opinion. It is very moist, it sometimes "crackles" as it burns but it does not leave moisture in the bowl. It stays lit well and produces clouds of smoke. I rarely require more than a single light. It burns to a fine white or light gray ash. The room note is very pleasant. The tastes of vanilla cream and apricot brandy are the dominant flavors.

Apricot brandy, creamy smoke, sweet Cavendish and a little earthy nutty burley. Good blend with plumes of thick smoke. First thoughts would be you are in for a goopy wet mess. The tobacco in the bag is sticky but not wet! It actually burns on the dry side. With the amount of sweetness one would be afraid of bite, none here. All in all a tasty respite from you run of the mill Aromatic, this one will stay in the rotation because it really seems to enhance my chocolate coffee and cream. Solid 3 for me.

I have had three tins of this blend over the years. Only the most recent one was not bone dry, and this is the first tin of a C&D blend that I have had, which was not bone dry.
This tin? It was very damp with the casing. Smelled strongly of apricot vodka and brown sugar! I thought I was in for a treat! The smoke however, is hands down the most tasteless that I have ever tried. It doesn't taste like anything, just warm steam. Room note however was great, and not tobacco like at all. I had to keep stepping back into the room because it was like cooking quick oats with peaches! However it was faint, and quickly died, leaving a very faint smell. As stated by other reviewers, this blend was crackling from the first match to the last third of the bowl, where at last, a leaf violently exploded, expelling ash all over the floor. That was enough for me, so I dumped the rest. I will try drying it before lighting it up again, but until then, this only gets 1 star, due to its explosive nature, and bland smoke. This had no nicotine to speak of. The strangest thing about this blend was the aftertaste. After about 5 minutes once I was done smoking, suddenly from nowhere it tasted strongly of apricots. The world's first delayed smoke?

Quick review: I only taste hints of apricots and cream. Maybe a little fruity sweetness which seemed to increase in flavour the further down the bowl it burned. It has a little harshness to it that slightly burns my mouth and nasal passages. Room note isn't bad and my wife thought she could smell some apricots.
I've had two bowls so far, and it hasn't made me feel ill or given me nasty tastes. It's ok, but not one I would buy again soon.

I bought this in hopes of being able to smoke this around those people that hate smoking. This tobacco smells too perfumey, like those decorative bath soaps. Tastes rather like that too(I was curious, shut up!). Found it rather boring. Good thing I smoked it in a corn cob, because this stuff stays in a pipe for a very long time. I guess if you really like aromatics or are new to pipe smoking, you might like this, but I don't.

I really like this blend. Aromas and flavors match the name perfectly. Light, fruity, creamy, sweet...and the room note is fantastic. I did dry it out a bit, which I think makes a pretty significant difference.

A friend suggested that I give this a try. Lights well and burns well a lot of smoke, cloud like. I can't make out what kind of fruit this is I'm not getting apricots at all I'm getting artificial perfume like.... But It smell very good I believe that's why he suggested I try this. I do like the way this tobacco smells very pleasant. The aroma stays with you throughout the bowl. Passerbyers seem to enjoy it as well. I'm surprised how effortless this tobacco smoked, it doesn't goop up. There is no tongue bite here, the one thing that bothered me was the taste there's a bitter flavor that builds as you smoke this and gets worse at the end, it leaves a very bitter kinda bad after taste in your mouth that I don't like at all. And taste is very important when smoking a tobacco. I don't know what is causing this I can only speculate, This is not my cup of tea.

Goopy, wet, heavily cased, and not a bad smoke at all.
Tin note is what the name says, particularly apricots. Reminds me of these healthy apricot yogurts. Very nice smell.
Crackle noises as you first light it, due to the heavy casing. You don't really get any flavor from the tobacco itself, only the toppings. It's a very nice taste and while it diminishes as you go down the bowl, it stays fairly noticeable throughout. A bit of a slow burn.
It comes very wet. I suggest to experiment with drying it out. For me, couple of hours of drying before anything is enough. Flavoring is pretty strong, but the blend as a whole is very mild in strength and mild in body. I haven't gotten any tongue bite, but in any case for getting the most out of the flavors and keep it lit, get into a moderate sipping cadence. No heavy puffing for this one. Tamp lightly too. Surprisingly only requires couple of relights for me. Best in a small bowl for me. I go for a Stanwell 242 (small pot) that is dedicated to aromatics.
Everytime before packing a bowl I feel like I just want to finish this tin and get over with it. However, once I get it going I remember that this is actually a pretty good blend. Not sure I'll buy it again, but who knows. 2.5 stars.

Why? Because I just wanted to see… and the interwebs seem to like it. Jet-black Cavendish (the Cavendish process starts with Burley which is fermented under-pressure with either steam and or a hot ‘sauce’, then dried and flaked); the apricot smells great, not confectionary or coarse. Smokes light and innocuous.

I enjoyed #300 since it burned clean and did not require a swabbing with a pipe cleaner during any of my smokes. The aroma was complimented and I can see how this could be called a marriage saver but I prefer vanilla, chocolate or maple aromatics to fruity ones, in fact I usually do not like fruity aromatics so this was a surprise for me. This really deserves 2 1/2 stars but gets three from me since the quality is there and does not goop up a pipe, that said I won't order it again since there are better aromatics out there (for my taste)

This blend works best when fresh; I found it to go flat when dried out a bit. So if you like this mixture, smoke it up pretty quickly or it will fade into tastelessness. The aroma is fruity, but I detected some kind of "perfumey" note, too; and I found that note a little less than pleasant.

A lovely stoved cavendish with a natural apricot aroma casing the tobacco. Cool burning with minimal tongue bite even if puffing hard. Ash burns to a lovely gray, and leaves minimal dottle in the bowl. Lighting is easy and the apricot is very noticeable on the charring light. As the bowl progresses mild virginia flavor comes through from the quality leaf. It leaves no residue in the bowl as lesser quality aromatics will. An overall excellent example of a quality aromatic and quality leaf.

Another from the C&D sampler. Very black chunks of cavendish with a very nice aroma from the can. The room note is very pleasant and is a nice blend when you find yourself in the company of non-smokers who might take offence with a bolder latakia blend that I like to smoke. Lights well and leaves a nice ash. A bit of tongue bite as all aromatics that I have tried but not enough to make it impossible to enjoy. This is a nice dessert smoke or a smoke to have in the morning when wanting a mild, flavored smoke. Not gooey but actually burns dry for the amount of sweet taste there is here.

i started pipe smoking(as many do) by smoking aromatics exclusively. i hesitate to admit this but, as a young single male, i had amorous intentions on my mind. the sweet-smelling tobaccos did seem to help draw in members of the opposite sex. 30 years later, smoking for sexual purposes has long since passed me by and so, for the most part, has my love affair with aromatics. i do smoke them occasionally in deference to others, especially when my wife and i go out on the town. one aromatic that has remained in my pipe is this one. it has a delightful smell(i am told) and the taste is sweet without the syrupy effect of some other aromatics. it is harder to light and hold a flame than with english blends, but that is a characteristic of all aromatics. it tends to burn hot, especially in smaller pipes, and care must be taken not to smoke it too fast. if you overheat it, might as well knock it out and try again later. there is some tongue bite in this one every time i smoke it, which is my chief complaint. i minimize this by moving my pipe position in my mouth. if you are into aromatics(or a horny young pipe-smoker), this one might be worth your while. 2 stars.

Tin note: peaches and cream. Tobacco is moist and sticky, crackles when you touch a flame to it. Smoke: quintessential peaches and cream, that's about it. Maybe some vanilla. The slightest sip produces a big hit of flavor. Virtually no nicotine. If you're in the mood for peaches and cream, this should satisfy; if you're into strong fruity/confectionery aromatics, this should probably be in your collection.

I tend to enjoy C&D aromatics as they are usually very well done and bear little resemblance to the majority of USA aromatics. I don't usually gravitate toward black Cavendish, but like to use it to blend with Virginia and burley. I mix this half and half with Amphora Full Aroma to give it a little extra fruitiness and still taste like tobacco. It works great, and cuts the tongue bite I sometimes get with straight AFA. C&D Cappuccino works well for this too, but i like the added fruit of the Apricots & Cream. Fantastic for blending. Just let it dry for awhile.

Very wet consistancy. Like coat your fingers wet. More wet than Molto Dolce. The smell is a fruity apricot and cream, just like the name says. Smells wonderful.
A very mild, sweet, vanilla cream smoke with no tobacco flavor except maybe some sweetness from the cavendish. It’s wet so if you don’t dry it out some I would suggest smoking carefully to avoid tongue bite. Did leave wet unsmoked leaves in bowl.
Smoking this around non pipe smokers will surely we welcome as this smells great.
If you need something that’s aromatic and smells nice for the wife this might be it.

An even burning cavendish with an apricot casing that isn't too strong or too artificial tasting. All in all, a decent smoke.

This is a sweet tobacco that leaves a very nice room note. I bought this at the Chicago show in 2007 and it is better after two years! When I bought it I got a lot of goop and moisture in the pipe and it will ghost the briar, so beware. Now that it's aged and dried out it's not as wet, but still smokes hot with tongue bite that goes away shortly after smoking. I find this too sweet now that I have branched out into other tabaccos. I like Iwan Ries' Banner-Lite as opposed to this blend.

I got a sample of this from a friend. It was drier than I expected. A name like Apricots and Cream makes me think of sticky, overly sweet tobacco. It burned a little warm like a sweet blend would but it was managable. It didn't have an overpowering apricot or cream taste. The tobacco tastes were the show and they were very nice. The room note was delightful. It had a bit of a bite to it but not bad. I'd smoke it again for sure, but might not buy more when this sample is gone.

This is a Black Cavendish blend, but not one of the goopy, PG laden variety. The cavendish is Green River Burley, I believe, and is more of a very dark purplish brown than black. When you first open the pouch an intensely fruity aroma assaults your nose, and you?d be forgiven for being hesitant about putting it in your pipe. While the room aroma is very close to the pouch aroma, the smoke, surprisingly, is hardly sweet at all. Some of the flavoring does make it through to the smoke, but the main flavor is the tobacco, especially as the bowl progresses. The Burley base provides a good bit of strength for an aromatic tobacco. The main drawback is that I find the smoke a bit harsh, especially toward the bottom of the bowl, but I seem to have that problem with a lot of C&D blends. I'd recommend this to those who usually smoke aromatic tobaccos and those interested in trying an aromatic that provides the smoker with tobacco taste and those around him/her with a fruity aroma. A word of warning, however: the aroma may very well work its way into your pipe, so you may not want to smoke it in anything you're likely to smoke an understated, subtle tobacco in.
