Blended with just the right amounts of golden Virginia and burleys, the basic blend of toasted cavendish tobaccos. A perfect burning quality and rich flavor combine to form one of our most popular blends.
The burley is mildly nutty with a drop of molasses. The Virginia is citrusy and grassy. The black cavendish has some vanilla. The vanilla topping sublimates the tobacco quite a bit, but they show up a little more after the half way point. I also notice a hint of caramel from a topping, too. The nic-hit is extremely mild. Won’t bite. Needs a short dry time. Burns at a moderate pace, cool, clean and creamy smooth. Leaves some moisture in the bowl, but no dottle. The after taste is pleasant. An all day smoke.
This has become my favorite of the Pipes & Pleasures blends. It burns great, tastes great and always hits the spot. Tastes kind of like vanilla, but the topping is nowhere near strong to my palate. It's very full, nice and smooth sweet and a bit tangy toward the end (although in a tapered bowl it can get a little bitter). I think this is a good companion for Shortcut to Mushrooms, and often smoke just these two blends in a day when I reach for one or the other. I think this would be a good burley-based tobacco for those who aren't big fans of burley blends, and it makes a nice cake so it'd be good for breaking in a pipe too. A+
