Jack's Tobacco Top Dog
(4.00)
As with our 12th Anniversary commemorative blend, Top Dog is a robust to full English blend complemented with rich Turkish and mellow Virginia tobaccos, then spiced with Louisiana perique for a smooth balance. Complexity is added with an abundant level of Cyprian Latakia to fill out the body and mingle with the sweet Turkish and Virginia tobaccos. It is a rich, smooth, dry smoke to satisfy the English traditionalists but should still be welcomed by those who appreciate the pungency of the Turkish and sweetness of the Virginia tobaccos.

This tobacco is certainly top shelf. The pouch aroma is full and luxurious. I know there are differing opinions as to what constitutes Balkan vs. English, but I would call this a Balkan since to my taste, the richness of Orientals predominate. Even so, the cool, fullness of Latakia is certainly there. This blend manages to keep both flavors in balance and maintains is rich, full, and complex flavor from the first light down to the bottom of the bowl. Although I smoke a lot of different blends, Top Dog is always one I can count on. I usually like to smoke this type of blend in a wide bowl such as a pot or cherrywood (shaped) pipe, but even in smaller bowls such as a bulldog, this blend does well.
