ThePipeRoom.com Enchanted Forest

(3.00)
A masterful blend of premium tobaccos sets the stage for this enchanting, smokey new mixture. Flavorful leaves add hints of fruit and berries with subtle nuttiness backed by earthy undertones of Latakia, cavendish and red Virginias. This whimsical but dark blend will be a pleasant choice for the journey! Old World myth has it that the Black Forest had witches, dwarfish and ancient knights. There wasn't a single army in all of Europe that would pass through, though going around meant losing many weeks of travel! No one who ever entered the Black Forest in those days was ever seen again. Far friendlier, the Enchanted Forest with its elves, nymphs and unicorns will offer many pleasant surprises during a smoke! But; beware, though not as dark, Black Forest lovers will find this blend is not entirely unfamiliar in richness and subtle, dark undertones. Brings to mind adventurous journeys into deep, redwood forests past shafts of golden light piercing the dark canopy of sky-high tree tops and gently falling upon patches of sweet berries scattered along the dark forest floor. Not for the faint of heart or squeamish.

This is a solid blend with light aromatic character. The earthy tones accented with berries stay true throughout the bowl. I won't call it "casing" because the aroma and flavor don't suggest it. Perhaps "top noting" is a better term here, the non-tobacco flavorings are very mild, unobtrusive and pleasant.

70% Scottish 30% aromatic character.

The latakia comes through and gives this blend "body" not often found with other aromatics. The bag aroma is almost idetical to the smoke flavor and smell, which it not always true with some blends I've smoked.

It did require some drying, and I still need to dry it more, that's the main reason I only give it 3 stars. It will bite a little if smoked too fast and moisture accumulates at the bottom of your bowl. However, that's not a negative to me personally because I have never found a blend that wouldn't do just that if smoked too fast.

I expect to continue to dry this blend ultimately making it bone-dry and crumbly just to see what happens. I don't normally do this, but I have a sneaking suspicion it may make this blend a 4 star winner.

I love this blend however, and plan on getting a pound or so in the near future to cellar.

I like to go to this mix when I can't decide if I want a Scottish blend or an aromatic. Its a great middle of the road treat.

I'm not generally big on Aromatics, but after hearing so many of the positive reviews, I decided to give this a shot.

I took mine straight from the bag and loaded up a corn cob taster pipe. It was a little on the moist side, but still very smokable. To be honest I could have packed it better, but it pretty much refused to smoke hot.

The casing was light enough to let the tobacco flavor through, strong enough to taste. By the end of the bowl I did start to get the hint of perfuminess in the back of my throat, but not to the point where it was unbearable. There was a light nutty quality to the tobacco itself, and the raspberry/vanilla casing complimented it quite well. As the bowl wore on, the casing became more evident, and the tobacco flavor took a back seat. For that reason alone I'd be wary of smoking this in a big bowled pipe. (And I don't have any big-bowled pipes I'd risk leaving raspberry flavor in to test that theory.)

If you dig smoke rings, this might be right up your alley, because the smoke was thick. I could float big rings across the room with this, or simply let one hang in front of me for a good minute. As a pretty dedicated English blend smoker, I was impressed by the sheer volume of big fluffy white smoke I could generate with this with no tongue bite, no heat.

I'll probably keep this around for those times when I want to smoke in public without offending the locals. The room note was pleasant, if still a wee bit Latakia musty. It is a very different flavor profile than my usual, and might also be nice for a switch up, or even an early morning pipe. "Not for the faint of heart or squeamish." Umm, you'd have to be a serious wimp to find this blend overpowering.

No elves, fairies, or nymphs were harmed in the making of this review.

When this blend first arrived it was so wet I thought it better to just pour it in a coffee cup and sip it with a squirt of whipped cream. After several days of drying out I was pleased to find a mild, smooth, fruity, creamy aromatic that did not nip the oral cavity or foul the pipe...did burn hot if puffed too hard. "Not for the faint of heart or squeamish"... if your five years old...

First off, I'd rate this tobacco as a 2.5 star, but none exists. I find it better than "Elfin Journey," mainly because this one tastes like a tobacco rather than a perfume. Anyway, the casing was recognizable, but not overpowering. Again, not as strong as I like but decent in body and flavor. This tobacco was extremely wet. I used two pipe cleaners from both ends in order to keep it smoking enjoyably. Overall, you may like it.

The description provided is quite creative.I don't know about elves and fairies, but smoking this blend has made me a believer in magic. That is to say that I never thought that I would find an aromatic blend I would enjoy smoking, so it must be magic! Smoking this blend was quite surprising, the blend is what I would describe as "old school" with a light fruity berry flavoring in the background.the casing is non existant-that is to say that however they put the flavoring on the tobacco is not evident when smoking, just the flavors themselves.I am very impressed with The Pipe Room's offering here, and have a couple more blends to try.for someone like me who does not like aromatics at all, this could change your mind.I have smoked virginia blends, and some english blends that did not smoke as dry. I found that the blend definitely changes personalities when smoke in a meerschaum versus briar, but both instantces where favorable.
