Watch City Cigar Bada-Bing!

(3.00)
This is cherry with a twist. Not only did we add a bit of vanilla, we also spiced it lightly with perique.

The most obvious quality of this blend is that it is the coolest burning aromatic i have tried. Virtually no bite unless you are chugging like a freight train. Very nice hint of a cherry flavor. Candy cherry, but not in a bad way. If any of you have ever eaten cherry flavored crasins, thats the best comparison i can make. Not my "soulmate" aromatic, but this one gets some serious points. The guys in Framingham, MA really earn my repeated business with this one.

This is a very nice cherry aromatic. The cherry flavor is very prominent but not overwhelming, not too sweet. The casing actually wears off a bit as you smoke through the bag over a couple of weeks. Obviously, sweet cavendish base.

The cherry flavoring seems a bit subdued here and tastes more artificial in a Kool-Aid kind of way. That being said, it's still pleasant. The addition of Perique helps making this blend a bit more interesting and kicks up the strength above your normal aromatic. This blend is pleasant and interesting but just doesn't quite float my boat. I will continue the search for a cherry blend that I really like, if it exists at all.

12/10/08 Update

I am upgrading this blend to 3***. I put this blend on the back burner for awhile. Just decided to give this another go and it seems to have improved or maybe it's just me but anyway I am liking this blend much more. The flavor has become a sour cherry flavor that I like and the Perique elevates this above your average aromatic.

Great cherry blend with a non-typical cherry flavor. It is not a cloying sweet cherry taste but a bright tart cherry flavor, like other reviewers mention a cherry Jolly Rancher. That said the flovoring is light in that you can taste the underlying tobacco. The spice from the perique adds a nice counterpoint to the cherry flavor.

They claim there is vanilla but I haven't ever detected it.

Only drawbacks are first if you are not careful it can and will bite; and secondly I've noticed batch to batch variability is the amount of perique I detect. so batches it is upfront with the perique, others the perique is in the background.

The flavoring in this blend is not quite what I expected -- it's definitely cherry, but more like cherry flavored candy or cherry kool-aid, bright and tart. I couldn't smell any vanilla in the pouch.

The tobacco dried out surprisingly well (I like my blends a little drier than most) and smoked smoothly with a little bit of interest that could be the perique and virginias, playing their roles. The cherry flavor comes through in the smoke almost unchanged but pleasantly muted by mellow cavendish and maybe even a little bit of that vanilla I couldn't smell before lighting. As I smoked, it changed subtly and kept me interested -- and subsequent bowls in the same pipe began to bring out a potential for this to be more than a sometime-blend.

The room note was the same subdued, tart candied cherry, with some citrus, and a base of leathery tobacco.

Very little bite because it played nice drying out, and the drying did not kill the added flavorings -- quite well behaved!

Recommended as a crossover blend, for when you want tobacco and a little something more. The cherry will be a deciding factor -- it really is like candy or kool-aid rather than a cherry cordial or dark cherry. That turned out to be a good thing, something unique and pleasant, but if you are looking for black and mellow cherries, you might want to look elsewhere.

First note, I really enjoy a Cherry Blend tobacco. I have two which I smoke on a regular basis and am always in search of new blends.

The Bada-Bing was in a sampler pack and I looked forward to trying it, even though I am not a really big fan of perique blends.

Upon opening the sample the aroma was without question CHERRY. I could only detect a hint of perique.

I loaded the bowl and on first light the perique was quite evident and a bit over powering to my taste. I was determined to see if the cherry ever came to the top and the perique lessened.

The first quarter bowl was perique with a hint of cherry peaking through at just the right moments. Interesting to say the least.

About mid bowl the perique settled down and the real flavor of the tobacco and cherry was showing through.

From mid-bowl to the finish the blend was very nice to my palate and I looked forward to my second bowl with great anticipation.

I will update when I finish the sample and advise.

If you enjoy the perique blends then this one is worth a taste. If you are strictly and aromatic smoker then I would suggest a try but I do not believe it will please most aromatic smokers.

Room note was mixed and my biggest critic said it was a bit strong. Others advised it smelled nice.

I give this a 2.5 star, which for an aromatic smoker is a very good score.

I usually steer clear of cherry-flavored tobaccos, but I liked this one--maybe it was the perique.

I could smell the cherry on opening the sample I received, but it was not at all overwhelming. This tobacco has a nice dark color to it and isn't at all sticky or moist-- another plus in my book. The tobacco packed easily and lit well.

On the first light, I can pick up the cherry, but it's not too strong. Even better this isn't at all cloying or even that sweet.

I found this tobacco to burn dry and relatively cool and it had a light, pleasing aroma. I think the perique counters the sweetness of the cherry with a nice sourish/tangy quality.

The bowl finished with a nice salt and pepper ash and burned well to the bottom with no gurgling or need for a pipe cleaner mid-smoke.

This blend will make a nice change of pace for someone who wants a cherry note that isn't overly sweet.
