Watch City Cigar Aromatic #7

(3.50)
A superior form of burley is the bed on which we lay several types of sweet black and gold cavendish tobaccos. The aroma is sweet and the taste is a classic nutty sweet burley flavor.

The very nutty, earthy, woody, lightly molasses sweet burley is the lead component. It’s also a tad rugged. The sugary black cavendish gives it some competition. The grassy, citrusy gold cavendish is mostly a condiment by effect and not its percentage in the mix. The topping is hard to define, but it tastes like a cordial to me with a few vanilla notes. While it mildly sublimates the tobaccos, it also synergistically creates a harmonious, very consistent flavor from start to finish. The strength is in the center of mild to medium, while the taste is a couple of steps past that mark. The nic-hit is a slot shy of strength level. No chance of bite or harshness, but sports a slight rough edge. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate. Hardly leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. The after taste and room note pleasantly lingers a mite. An all day smoke.

Medium brown "Cavendish cut" ribbons with a bag aroma of earthy burley topped with something. The topping smelled light and the aroma reminded me of stuff my dad used to smoke in the 1970's. Very homey. This one's presentation seemed like how blends must have started becoming more aromatic. This is an early version as it is not overflavored and produces no sloppy goop.

All aromatics should be like this one and WC's Deluxe Crumb Cut. The flavoring never overpowers the tobacco and the burley is top notch. The flavoring was something along the lines of light cocoa, vanilla and some kind of nut - perhaps pecan? I'm so terrible at placing flavorings. Have to say, though, that while with Deluxe Crumb it was at just the right level, it's a little heavier here than I prefer. It's still tobacco up front and center but a reduction in the flavoring would have made this one work better for me. But again, that's a personal thing, as I don't think many people would agree. In fact, many people might wish for more of the flavoring. I like the name, as I do find this to be an aromatic, but as distinguished from what I call Goopers, which eschew tobacco taste for a more artificial presentation. This is an aromatic... tobacco first, with added flavoring. And in that sense, this is one of the best. I just prefer the Deluxe Crumb Cut.

Watch City Cigar IMHO makes some of the best, an unfortunately often overlooked, VaPers on the market today. So I was excited to give some of their other blends a try. Aromatic #7, as another reviewer pointed out, is a bit of a misnomer as it is much more of a Burley blend than an aromatic. For me it does cross into the aromatic category, but it treads very lightly. The pouch scent offers a much stronger aromatic scent than what translates into the smoke. The Burley is the star of the show with the Cavendish and Virginias playing only a small supporting role. The flavoring is light and enhances the tobacco taste rather than mask it. The quality of the Burley is very good and the nuttiness shines through with no bitterness. It needs a bit of dry time for the best results. It's refreshing that Watch City is one of those shops still making their own blends and they are well worth a try. Recommended.

First off name is a bit of a misnomer as this burley blend is more in the vein of a codger burley than a true aromatic.

The tobacco is a uniform brown ribbon cut with flecks of black. The pouch aroma is sweet and pleasant, reminiscent of the pipe smokers of my childhood.

It packs and lights easily and stays lit well.

It is a smooth smoke from at the match to the bottom of the bowl. Burns down to a fluffy gray ash. It smokes dry with little bite (you really have to puff hard to get it to bite). DidI mention it is very smooth.

As for the flavor, initial it is sweet with hints of cocoa (to me at any rate) this quickly fades away and you are left with pure burley nuttiness. It also has a very pleasant room note (in my experience tends to remind people of their grandfathers (not useful in picking up women)) It terms of strength I wuld put it on par with Prince Albert.

Overall it is a nice smooth burley As long as I have some, the Prince is relegated to second class citizen status

Haven't smoked this blend in a while and I decided to take it out of storage and fire it up after a huge meal. Tobacco smells great in the tin and it was very easy to light. The burley flavor really stands out and has a sort of almond/vanilla/nutty thing going on. Burns great and did not have to relight and no goop at the bottom of the bowl. No tounge bite at all. Very impressed with this blendf. Recommended to those who want a lighter tobacco or for the first bowl in the morning with a good cup of java.

The bag note is a wonderful sweet burley tobacco. Cereal grain, oats, wood, raisin bread. Soft fluffy strands of tobacco. A codger’s dream.

The taste is a soft, nutty, grains, mildly sweet. No added top aromatic flavor instead it’s a nice soft mild burley with a touch of sweetness. Burns well to the bottom. The nicotine is mild.

The burley nutty cocoa woody molasses flavor and the mild sweetness really hit the spot in the early morning with some coffee.
