Yes, indeed a blending tobacco, but nonetheless very nice as a stand-alone. My tin was from '82 - seal intact.
Very, very pungent and spicy, burns fast and cigarette-like. Sasha hit the nail with his review; It might be good to blend but I prefer this special treat as it is. (Not very often one gets the chance to smoke pure Cavella and Yenidje.
I prefer this one in a pipe with a wide bowl, and do smoke it slowly. If you do this will reward you with a lovely and special smoking experience.
This is meant to be a house-blending tobacco, but it's good to be smoked alone too. The cut is a long ribbon, almost a shag, not very easy to pack properly. It burns hot and fast, as it is supposed to, so smoke it carefully and slowly, no matter if you have to relight here and there. The flavour is cigarettish, pungent, really typical. Blended with Virginia and latakia from the same house (proportions of 1 tin each) results in a fine English mixture, well balanced, slow burning and full-flavoured.
