A very popular medium strength mixture. A blend of Red Virginia, chopped flake and a little Latakia, incorporating 'Royal Yacht'. The flake helps to give natural sweetness and a slow rate of burn. A dash of white rum flavouring is added to enhance taste.

Notes: Only available at Dunhill's Store, London.

This tobacco was available in the U.S. until around 1983 when Dunhill went out of the tobacco business and sold the name to Murrys . I had a reserve of cans and was able to smoke it through the 1990's . It was for many years available at the Duke St. store in London . The nice thing about 620 was the cut , sort of shag like but not a true shag . It provided a really good burn and a fine white ash .It was sort of a Virginia forward English mixture with a decent amount of latakia but not over the hill . I was never aware of the Royal Yacht said to be present but I'm sure it was there if Dunhill claimed it . This was really a cross over English blend because the quality Virginias were clearly in charge . Back in the day the Dunhill My Mixtures provided a great variety to the lexicon of available tobaccos and , for me , #620 was near the top of the list . It was not available in local pipe shops , you needed to go to the Dunhill shop to buy it . Today we have so many tobaccos available that no one stands out but , back in the day , #620 was an elite tobacco . You needed to make an effort to obtain it and it's selection marked the smoker as a man of taste . Today it is but a fragrant memory .

Someone had a bit of this to smoke. He told me it was really old and perhaps that had an effect upon the taste or lack thereof. I gave it a shot to see how I would like it. Weak is my best impression. This blend is just not much of anything as it has really no personality. Just a very bland smoke. I don't think it's available anymore so not a really big loss to anyone. I have found Dunhill makes many brands that all seem just medium at best. No wonder they have given it up.

Pipe Used: Used my old Dunhill...didn't help!

Age When Smoked: Unknown
