The long gone Lewis Extra Coarse Cut was only made by the Will factory in England in the 1980s. A hearty offering of rich Latakia, spiced with the exceptional Orientals available back then and capped off with stoved Virginia. The overall impression was a wonderfully middle of the road in strength and full on flavor blend that kept the smoker very happy.

ECC has been out of production for many years; my tin was from the mid-eighties - English made. The look of this fine English reminds me of Presbyterian. The Latakia is a wee bit more present, but still this leans towards the milder end of the traditional mixtures.

There is a noticeable amount of high quality orientals in ECC and the blend is just as well balanced as Black Mallory and Astley's #99. Imagine a stouter version of Presbyterian without that German taste and you have this.

Smooth and delightful, especially early in the day. ECC recieves four stars because of the true English taste and excellent choice of leaf.
