This is one of those blends where I just had to dump the bowl before consuming it. Not a thing to like about it. Burns gooey and harsh (not to mention hot), and the flavor was like munching on a green cranberry. No nicotine to speak of either.

I thought Mexican Burley would be spicey. Nope.

The description above says it does not smoke wet. Well, it does when you light it.

I had a 2 oz. package that I had purchased a year ago along with Guy's other samples. I decided to finally smoke it while awaiting UPS to deliver my favorite tobaccos. It starts out with a subtle aromatic taste which soon degrades into an unpleasant taste with bite. I was unable to burn it all the way down no matter how many matches I used. After trying 6 pipe loads in 6 different pipes all of high grade I gave up and threw it away.

The description of Top Hat is right on target. Perhaps more heavily cased than other offerings from Affordable Pipes, but not overwhelming. If you like aromatics you will adore Top Hat. Not being an aromatic "Lover"I still find plenty to be happy about with Top Hat. I don't know what Mexican Burley is, but I like it. The Virginia takes front seat, though, and you can detect it's sweetness. The Burley adds just the right amount of body without being overpowered by the casing. The cavendish does it's job cooling it down and smoothing it out. A bit on the mild side, but definitely a keeper.

We recently received a sample pack of Tobacco's from Guy and Jackie .. Top Hat really stands out for us.

The appearance is a nice mixture of light golden brown, chestnut and black tobacco's. Which I see as Va, burley and cavendish. On opening the bag you are greeted with the smell of berries .. The berry smell dominates but is not unpleasant. The tobacco is a wee bit dry so it is about perfect for me. Packing is about as easy as it gets .. simple 3 pack method and we are good to go. The first light brings a delicious sweet taste of berry with a background of fine tobacco hints. As the bowl progressed, the berry started to take a back seat and the base va's and burley came thru. It smokes clean to the bottom of the bowl with no relights or cleaners required.

This makes a nice first thing in the morning smoke with a good coffee or a late night smoke when want to get away from some of the heavier blends. It would also be a great all day smoke especially when you are in mixed company.

Overall .. Highly recommended .. Both Terri and I really like this fine blend.
