Affordable Pipes Guy's Favorite

(4.00)
All natural blend of the highest quality Virginias and Burley give this tobacco its naturally sweet mild nutty flavor. An extremely mild great all day smoke, that you will not tire of. Burns to a clean white ash, is easy burning, and cool smoking. No additives at all. Light to no aroma. Loose Cavendish Cut.
Notes: Retired and closed Affordable Pipes shop in 2010.

Affordablepipes seem to have excellent products. This is yet another great tobak even a new piper like myself really find enjoyable. I guess I need to get my "cellar" going now. I need to stock up on this blend and about five other blends from Guy. As stated in the other reviews my wife really liked the roomnote on thsi blend. Thanks again to all the reviewers for their insight to help a new piper on the way to no more cigarrettes! This is one blend with ease of lighting and burning with no bite makes the tongue yearn for more high quality blends!

In all honesty, the tin description is right on the money, except for one thing: This stuff has a delightful aroma. It's easy to see why this is Guy's favorite.

If you are looking for a pleasant, mild, all day kind of smoke, this is a very commendable option.

Natural virginia and burley at its finest. If anyone is searching for a non-biting half and half type of mixture, this is the ticket. Nutty with pleasant virginia-type sweetness. Zero casings or flavorings...but this is not at all bland. Rather, it is a pure tobacco blend made with top quality leaf. It always delivers the goods.

I just received recently this fine blend-ordered it based on the previous description. What a pleasing smoke. While I enjoy the natural sweetness of Virginias, typically, if too much of it in a blend, my highly sensitive tongue suffers from the tanginess. However, with this blend I get the natural sweetness with a tad of tang but balanced and smoothed with the wonderful burley Guy uses. Has to be some of the same burley he uses in his Blue Grass Melody as that same richness as in that blend flows through this one. So, if you're wanting to taste Virginia but have a sensitive palate and/or want a V blended with a wonderfully smooth, rich burley, cannot recommend it more highly.

I am not a big fan of aromatics. I guess this one is an aromatic. But, I must admit that this one is probably the best aromatic I've ever smoked. That makes me a big fan of THIS aromatic. Guy and Jackie of Affordable pipes sent me a sample of this. I told them I was normally a smoker of English blends and Virginias, but that I was getting into Burley/Virginia blends. I expected something that would be pretty strongly Virginia oriented. Not the case...or, should I say that this stuff seems to be cased with something. Guy's Favorite appears to be a blend of bright Virginias, Burley, and brown Cavendish cut into fairly thin long ribbons. The aroma on opening the bulk package has a chocolate/raspberry note. It looks wonderful and smells delightful. At the charing light I find a slight maple flavoring standing up witht the chocolate and raspberry. After a relight it appears to be mild yet slightly tangy. The Burley kicks in and I am rewarded with the well liked nuttiness of Burley. At mid-bowl there is a little strength added because of the Burley. I can't get a distinct Virginia sweetness out of this until further down the bowl. One main thing to add is that Guy's Favorite burns dry from top to bottom. Matches don't cost much, of course, so since I usually use only two or three, you can make up the difference by smoking a following bowl! It's that good! Guy's favorite makes a wonderful all day smoke. It's mild, doesn't attack your attention other than the wonderful flavors. I especially like it early on a Spring morning while working in my garden. A good cup of Italian Roast coffee, a spade, and a pipe of Guy's favorite makes the gardening experience a delight. My neigbors comment on the wonderful "yard note"! If I slip inside for the second bowl my girlfriend and son don't start opening windows like they do when I'm smoking an English! That says something! Well, I'll stick to my English blends, but this one has got to be a real pleaser, not only for me but for those around me. I feel if I am going to smoke an aromatic that I must enjoy it, too. Guy's favorite has become a favorite of mine! Hurray for Guy and his blending skills to produce this fine blend!

This is an amazingly delicious, delicate smoke that somehow stays really interesting through the smoke. I've tried it in a Savinelli Zulu and a Comoy's full bent, and it gets much richer in a full bent, perhaps because of some accumulated moisture(?). This is a wonderful smoke that needs no relighting and makes me glad from the first puff to the last.

How in the world do you get such a sweet, mild, nutty tobacco that has an EXCELLENT room note without any casing? This stuff is fantastic. Not as good as Guy's Navy Blend (in a class all it's own) but a close second. Buy this by the pound!
