ThePipeRoom.com Midnight Vigil
(3.33)
Keep the night watch with Sherlock Holmes. This blend has unmatched depth of flavor! From the smooth and earthy Latakia leaf to dark Orientals, bold Virginias and rich black Cavendish, yet all the while retaining a surprisingly pleasant smoothness. This blend takes you to unexplored flavor sensations. Hints of rich, black coffee and black raspberry gently make their presence known while not compromising the foundation of the blend. A minute hint of Perique is added to garnish the masterpiece! Unusually delightful!

This mixture is simply fantastic. As someone who smokes a few aromatics, and enjoys English tobaccos, this is almost a go between of the two. The casing was barely noticeable, the tobacco perfectly aged, and no excess moisture was present. The tobacco smoked smoothly and consistently all the way through tothe bootm of the bowl, never needing a relight.
The room note was fairly pleasant. I smoked this both indoors and outdoors, and found this blend equally enjoyable.
The mixture of various leaves blended well together. I would highly recommend this blend for someone making the transition from aromatics to English tobaccos. It has just of enough of each to allow an easy transition.
I will consider this a regular tobacco in my rotation. Give this a try, it is worth your while.

I very delightful experience! Very nice and smooth smoke. Almost creamy. I enjoyed it very much as with all Pipe Room tobaccos. I keep a pouch handy at all times and would never turn it away if offered. While I do not much like most English blends (Latakia), this is the second blend that I do like.

As with most of The Pipe Room's blends, this is a great smoke, but doesn't match up to all that "unmatched depth of flavor" hype or possesses those "unexplored flavor sensations." It's a great English blend with very very very subtle aromatic undertones that are very vague hints. As in almost not noticable. Any additional flavoring seem to help the mixture of various type of tobaccos be harmonized together. You'll notice more Virginia than anything else here, but is controlled by the other tobacco types present, just don't go searching for those rich coffee and black raspberry notes. They're simply not there to any degree to which you'll appreciate them.
What you do get with Midnight Vigil is a great classic English blend that smokes well and gives the room a nutty/woodsy aroma that is quite pleasing. Just don't expect unmatched flavor sensations, and you'll be pleased. This is a blend I have in my rotation and would satisfy your need for that everyday/anyplace smoke you'd like as a middle ground to your Virginas on one side and your true aromatics on the other.
