Mac Baren Dark Twist Loose Cut

(2.38)
The shortcut to good tobacco. Easier to fill - easier to smoke. A contrast-rich mixture of golden, loose cut Virginia tobaccos and mild black cavendish, with a touch of matured burley tobaccos. A mild harmonious mixture with a round, pleasant and characteristic Dark Twist tobacco flavour. Dark Twist Loose Cut is very easy to fill and easy to smoke.

A ribbon cut version of the DT Roll Cake. The spicy brown sugar sweet black cavendish is a strong supporting player. The light and dark Virginias offer some tart and tangy citrus and tangy dark fruit, along with a fair amount of earth, wood, and a little grass and bread. They are also responsible for the honey note. The spicy woody, earthy, mildly floral, nutty, dry sour dark fired Kentucky is a major player. The topping doesn't tone down the varietals much at all. The strength is a couple of steps short of medium, while the taste is medium. The nic-hit is a couple of slots past the center of mild to medium. Won't bite, but fast puffing will get you a little tongue tingle. Burns clean at a moderate pace with a fairly consistent, mildly complex flavor, more so than the Roll Cake incarnation does. Requires an average number of relights, and leaves little moisture in the bowl. The pleasant after taste does linger as does the slightly stronger room note. Needs to be sipped a little as it can burn a little warm, and tongue tingly if puffed fast. Can be an all day smoke.

Well, I did enjoy the fact there was no work involved prior to loading up and smoking. A little on the bland side with a hint of kick. It burns evenly and cool and does contain the same components as the disc version.

This is a lazy man's Dark Twist.

"The Ultimate Neophyte-Blend" One of the newest creations from Mac Baren. A shag-cut version of the esteemed Dark twist, and yes, it is indeed the same tobacco - almost..

The shag-cut make DTLC burn very fast; Mac Baren have added some boring burley to make it burn more easily. The nic-level is lower, the taste is blander but the casing is the same.

There is one advantage to this blend though that Dark Twist regular doesn't have: This one will never burn you.

I would call this one Mac Baren's answer to Instant Coffee. Easy, ok but not half as good as the real deal. I you ever consider trying this, do smoke it in a Pot or another pipe with a large bowl, I'll just stick with the regular version.

One question to Mac Baren: Why?!

My tobacco is from a couple of 5 gram foil sample packs that are several years old. The tobacco is still moist but not overly so. The cut is random with some reddish pieces among the brown and black; it packed into the bowl effortlessly and without additional preparation. Virginia provides the finesse of this blend with the black Cavendish bringing in some mellow sweetness. The Burley rounds out the balance of flavors and provides some backbone. The first third of the bowl highlights the Virginia sweetness and flavor. As the bowl progresses the other components crowd in on the Virginia a bit. The high point of the bowl is the middle third; there is some depth and smoothness to be found here. The smoke is relatively cool once the bowl is going good, but caution is warranted in the early stages. The nicotine content is slightly less than medium but is remarkable. The pipes used were a medium-sized Sunrise Canadian and a bent Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman.

Nice blend. Not so much tounge bite as the Roll Cake. Perfect for times when you don't need to fuss about smoking high maintenance blends. Great sweet and sour taste, fruity with woody tones. Roomnote makes women horny, they Think you smell like a man covered in leather. I have set the strength to medium to strong. Why? Because this blend really gives me nicotine slap. I have smoked the blend in different pipes but I really get a buzz. Must be the burley. The Dark Twist Roll Cake is more gentle with vitamin N. The sugars help to metabolize the nico. But maybe that's just me.

Because it smokes cooler without the addition of boring old burley, I prefer Dark Twist Twisted.

There are simply too many other tobaccos of equal or better quality and taste, not to mention the infamous Mac Baren bite to warrant your purchase of Dark Twist Loose Cut.

Save your money and your tongue.

Here is Dark Twist pre-rubbed with one major improvement, no tounge bite. If you like DT except for its tounge bite, this versions for you!
