This dark Virginia flake blend provided a lot of tangy ripe dark fruit, earth, wood, bread, some tart citrus, grass, peaty vegetation, sugar, mild floralness, stewed dark fruit, and light spice and a touch of smoke. The strength and nic-hit were medium. The taste just edged past that mark. Had very minute rough edges. I suspect a light citrus casing helped with that. No chance of bite or harshness. The flakes were mildly moist, and had a little density. Burned cool, clean, and slightly slow with a very consistent Virginia flavor that extended to the mildly lingering, pleasant after taste. The room was a little stronger. Left little dampness in the bowl, and required a couple more than an average number of relights. Wasn’t quite an all day smoke, but it was certainly repeatable. Four stars.
