The Orientals provide a lot of earth, wood, floralness, vegetation, herbs, spice, some sourness and mild buttery sweetness as the lead components. The nutty, woody, earthy, toasty burleys are a supporting player. The bright Virginia produces some tart and tangy citrus, vegetative grass, bread, sugar, floralness, mild sour lemon, honey and spice in the third slot. The toasty black cavendish is a flavor carrier for the strong, mildly sweet and more sour mango presence. Its effect is a little more than moderate though it doesn’t drown out the tobaccos. The strength is a step past the medium threshold. The taste is a notch past that mark. The nic-hit is almost medium. The spice content is tingly, but not harsh, so I recommend a sipping pace. Has a few rough edges. Deep rich, it burns clean and a tad warm with a very consistent fruity, sugary, floral, nutty, spicy, sour flavor that extends the pleasantly lingering after taste. The room note is a little pungent. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires one or two relights over the average number. Can be an all day smoke for the veteran aro smoker. Will ghost a briar, and before long, a meer as well. Three and a half stars for the flavor reduced to two due to the potential for tongue bite.
