HU Tobacco Nebari
(4.00)
The Nebari is a contrasting Oriental blend, which is wonderfully complemented by a Virginia/Burley cube cut and perique and knows how to show all facets of an interesting tobacco blend.
Sweet and spicy with a hint of cocoa.

The Nebari shows already in the smell from the can notes of chocolate, whole grain bread and a peppery-ethereal spice. In the pipe opens initially a malty-bready bouquet from the Virginia and some light chocolate and nut (the latter are possibly from the Burley or a casing). Over the course, the floral-ethereal notes of the Orient and finally a peppery and fruity-acidic spiciness from the Perique become more present. Wow, Hans Wiedemann and Tobias Höse have really succeeded in creating an extraordinary, outstanding tobacco. The Nebari is incredibly complex, with each filling new nuances open up to me. Particularly is the smoking process, the tobacco develops its full-bodied flavor gradually.
The tobacco is super conditioned and smokes very dry and slow. In addition to the excellent Orientals, the chocolatey-nutty note is a highlight for me. The individual components are perfectly matched to each other. Not only who likes Oriental blends and wants to try something different or without Latakia, will be happy with the Nebari.
But you should definitely give it the necessary attention and smoke it slowly to be able to perceive all its profundity.

The Vice President of the San Diego Pipe Club and a friend of mine sent me some HU samples that he and the club ordered from Germany. I have reviewed two of their blends in the past and this one will be the third. The is a very slight cocoa sent to the tin note but ever so slight. This packs easy and lights easy as well with hardly any relights which surprised me. True to the description this does smoke with some slight sweetness and spiciness. The taste is to me out of this world. I can’t describe the taste of the components but if I were to guess I would say the Burley is in the background. I liked this so much I had to slow down on my puffing so I could appreciate the taste more. This is a blend to me where all of the components of the blend just click without any particular leaf dominating the experience. If I was back in the buying tobacco business, I would order some but I’ll just bum some more from the VP the next time I make it to San Diego one day. 😊 A five-star blend but can only rate it 4. Side bar, I can’t believe I beat JimInks to a review!:0
