Tabac Benden Bloemfontein Navy Cut
(4.00)
Notes: Released 09/21/2021
Christian Probst: We had the idea to create Bloemfontein when we found old Capstan Navy Flake (blue) tins from 1947. But a perfect copy was impossible, considering the tobacco's age and because the 1947 version contained a high dose of coumarin, which isn't authorised anymore.

The Bloemfontain lies beautifully in a golden package in the tin. From this immediately pours the smell of hay and sourdough bread.
The golden, densely pressed and cleanly cut flakes should to breathe a little before stuffing.
It's a pure Virginia, and that's how it tastes. A good natural sweetness, bready notes and a hint of yeast cake. There's also a very slight vanilla note, but it's not artificial either and probably reminiscent of the coumarin of old tobaccos - which, unfortunately, I've never tasted. A gentle spiciness sets in during the course of the smoke.
The taste is very full-bodied, but always gentle. Likewise, the nicotine content is rather moderate. The flake smokes wonderfully cool and dry. In the end, it leaves only bright, white ash. For me, an absolute new discovery in the Virginia sky. Recommended to every Virginia lover and who still wants to become one! Especially friends of Capstan Blue, Richmond Navy Cut and consorts.
