Notes: Ken became curious about the lost “gold and tan” style American/Danish blends that fell out of favor for blackened leaf aromatics. Matured bright Virginia with smooth tan burley and a classic style fragrance.
The nutty, earthy, woody, barely sweet toasted burley is the lead component. The matured bright Virginia provides plenty of fermented tart and tangy citrus, grass, bread, vegetation, some sugar, floralness, sour lemon, mild spice and a very small touch of acidity as a supporting player. The creamy rich milk chocolate and marshmallow toppings moderately lessens the effect of the tobaccos as they synergistically create a very consistent creamy sweet, nutty, fruity, lightly floral flavor. The strength and nic-hit are a notch past the enter of mild to medium. The taste is a rung past that. There’s no chance of bite or harshness. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate. Has a lightly lingering, pleasant after taste. The room note is a step stronger. Barely leaves any dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. An all day, comfortable, old style smoke. Four stars.
