HU Tobacco MacLochain
(4.00)
The MacLochain is a beautiful blend of Virginia, Latakia and English Black Cavendish, which has been refined with the flowery aromas of geraniums and a touch of vanilla and honey. MacLochain pays homage to the wild geraniums that grow on the banks of the Tweed Kelso. The result is an unusual blend with distinctive floral aromas which, thanks to their multifaceted interplay, give the blend a special touch.

The flowery, perfumy geraniums toppings dominate the proceedings with a lot of tart and tangy citrus, some tart lemon, and mild spice. The vanilla and honey are in the background. The aspects of the English black cavendish are buried. The grass, vegetation, bread, sugar and tart and tangy Virginia mildly peeks out from the toppings. The sweet, musty Cyprian Latakia moderately provides some earth, wood, floralness, herbs and smoke. The strength is a step past the center of medium to strong. Has a full taste level. The nic-hit just passes the medium threshold. There’s no chance of bite or harshness. Barely has any rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent flowery, tartly sweet and sour, lightly smoky, opulent, potent flavor that translates to the long lasting, pleasant after taste. The room note is a bit stronger. Leaves little moisture in the bowl. Requires a couple more than an average number of relights. Not an all day smoke, but it may be repeatable for those used to strong aromatic blends. Will ghost a briar and a meer. Four stars.
