From the official description: Go on a world tour with Kohlhase & Kopp. We make the second stop in Asia. A tobacco from Virginia, Dark Cavendish and Burley with all kinds of aromas that stand for Asia. Dragon fruit, papaya and lemongrass.
This is a really nice, fairly unique, aromatic. I generally don't smoke many aromatics, but when I do, it's these lighter, more European-style aromatics I go for. The main aromatic flavor here is lemon grass. But it's not overpowering. There's a nice sweetness from the dragon fruit and papaya to temper it, and those combined flavors create a really nice, fresh and light character.
The Virginias match perfectly with the aromatic flavors. They're grassy and light, with a touch of fruit. It's a very herbaceous and fresh blend overall. And the burley adds some needed earthy structure.
Bottom line: I really liked this blend. It's reminiscent of Grousemoor, only much lighter and with an added sweetness. I wish they still made it.
Pipe Used: Georg Jensen Special
Age When Smoked: 3 years
Similar Blends: A bit like Grousemoor, but sweeter and lighter..
