The aspects that peek out through the deeply rich spiced rum topping are some nuts, earth and wood from the burley, and grass from the Virginia. I barely notice any tangy citrus. The brown sugary black cavendish is the star varietal, though, it, too, is muted a bit by the rum. Even still, it is more obvious than the other tobaccos. The strength is in the center of mild to medium. The taste is medium. The nic-hit is a slot behind the strength level. No chance of bite or harshness, and sports no rough edges. The moisture level is a tad high, so you may want to give it a short dry time before launching into the experience. I did not do that. Burns cool, clean, and a little slow if not given some dry time. The flavor is very consistent from start to finish. Has a very pleasantly lingering after taste, and room note. Leaves a little moisture in the bowl if not dried, but no goop. Requires some relights. An all day smoke. Three and a half stars.

The tin might look like 2oz.. but there's only 1.5oz in there.. so think of that when you see pricing.

I'm a big fan of spiced rum, so I wanted to give this one a shot to see how it was as I've usually been disappointed with most rum aromatics I've tried so far. Upon opening the tin, the tin note was spiced rum for sure. Not overpowering, but very strong. The tobacco was quite moist to the touch so drying was the first business before trying to light the ribbon cut up.

I loaded up a cob bowl on my radiator with the little bit dryer tobacco and was able to get it to fire up fairly easily. The rum from the tin note is in the smoke. It reminds me of the old whiskey flavored tobaccos (but thankfully not as goopy) where the smoke flavoring pretty much covers up the taste of whatever tobaccos are lurking under there.

it burns well, will get hot and a little "bitey" if pushed but if sipped provides lots of flavorful smoke with not a large nic hit and pairs really well with an ice-cold coke or better yet a Captain and Coke.

The room note is pleasant on this one so you can smoke it at your next pool or beach party without too many complaints.

Especially with the small can size for the price, I don't see myself rushing to buy this again, but will enjoy the rest of my tin.

All around good smoke, earthy burley with some hay like Virginia. Both of which seem to be of high quality. The star other than the exceptional topping I’d the Black Cavendish, very smooth and very tasty indeed! The topping is of spiced rum, like the Captain makes! The smoke has a consistent flavor throughout the process and leaves a little moisture in the bowl but no goop. All day smoke for most. Excellent room note and pleasant after taste. Ample amount of nicotine to keep it in the game. Well balanced aromatic and one of the best rum topped I have smoked to date. My only drawback on this particular blend is the short ounce and a half can. I mean what’s up with that?

Well Rusty, talk about price, I live in CA and the tobacco and sales tax are obscene. I buy some of my pipe tobacco from a brick and mortar as the owner is nice enough to let us have our pipe club meetings on site and I have no problem supporting the store with my “dues”. But this tin is $21.50 plus 7.75% San Diego County sales tax which brings this tin to a whopping $22.28 but I digress. I enjoy rum and whiskey pipe tobaccos and I believe this might be my first spiced rum if I recall. The tin was comprised of very dark almost black ribbon with some very dark brown. Tin note definitely smelled like spice rum and was also damp and sticky to the touch. Smoked well and I did not detect any bite. I used my Chacom Volcano that is dedicated to aromatics, and was an enjoyable smoke. Low in nicotine, which for me is not really an issue. A nice aromatic a cut above of the typical drug store blends.
