Backwoods - Cherry.

One of my favourite ever aromatics is Samuel Gawith's Black Cherry, a true 'cherry' smoke. This, on the other hand, isn't in the same ballpark.

Back to the start: it lists ribbon for the cut but it's a coarse cut/mixture sort of affair. The aroma's mildly fruity, but in no way is it suggestive of a sickly, false, strongly flavoured blend. The moisture wasn't too damp, because the pouch is folded shut and not sealed any excess can dissipate.

The smoke? As expected, I don't find my palate awash with a formidable flavour of cherries. They give more of a strong plumminess, but not a smash in the face of sweetness, sourness, or acidity. This kind of disappoints me, when I have a cherry aro' I WANT some excitement! The tobaccos have a slightly mundane Virginia Cavendish character, the same as a plethora of aromatics; soft, sweet, perfectly inoffensive! The burn from it's decent, creating a cool smoke. I get no bite.

Nicotine: mild. Room-note: calmer than many cherry blends.

Backwoods Cherry? To be succinct, a poor example of a cherry aromatic; IMO. But, it might suit those who want a milder aromatic. Somewhat recommended:

Two stars.
