W.O. Larsen 155th Anniversary
(4.00)
Since 1864 W.O. Larsen's master blender create pipe tobaccos of the highest quality. This tradition is continued with the new W.O. Larsen Craftsmans Editions consisting of Virginia tobaccos, rounded off with a hint of burley from Africa and Central-America. The majority of the Virginia tobaccos is pressed into a "flake" and then rubbed out into a "ready rubbed". The remaining bright Virginia parts offer a pleasurable contrast to the dark burley leaves. A sensation - not only taste-wise.

Lovely, lovely, lovely... by far my most beloved aromatic so far! And I'm by no means an aromatic guy. But if I reach for one, it's mostly Larsen (namely Maple Mixture No. 50, Curly Cut No.32, Old Fashioned)
This one's just perfect.. it not only promises whiskey-flavour, but also offers it... at least in the smoke! The tin note is rather chocolaty and fruity, I don't sense too much alcohol-ish notes from it. Yet in the smoke a lovely turfy and slight grain-y alcoholish taste lingers along the very tasteful (dark-ish) chocolate aroma.
Not too much black Cavendish in there, so I also get some spice from the Virginia/Burley base, which is a must for me when it comes to aromatics.. and Larsen always delivers with that!
Yep.. 4-stars and a huge favorite.. if it wasn't for the price I'd cellar a few tins.. we'll see, maybe I'll find one or two out in the wild some day 😉 But this is a treat!
