Notes: This rather strong substantive mixture in the English style is very much to be recommended. The art of blending North American tobaccos with Orientals was brought to perfection with this one.

Golden yellow and chocolate brown Virginias were mixed with Macedonian tobacco and smokey Latakia. A touch of spicy perique rounds off this mixture.

The smokey, woody, earthy, musty sweet Cyprian Latakia is the lead component. The Orientals provide a lot of earth, wood, spice, floralness, smokiness and some buttery sweetness to go with a few dry, sour notes as a potent supporting player. In the third position is the earthy, fermented dark fruity, woody lightly floral, grassy, tart and tangy citrusy, golden yellow and chocolate brown Virginias. The spice from the perique is more obvious than the raisins, dates, plums and figs notes. The perique is a condiment. The strength is in the center of medium to strong, while the taste level is a couple of steps short of being full. The nic-hit is a slot short of the strength threshold. Won’t bite or get harsh, but it does have some rough edges. Burns clean and fairly cool at a reasonable rate with a very consistent, lightly sweet and very savory, spicy, well balanced, complex campfire flavor that translates to the lingering after taste. Leaves little moisture in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. The room note lingers a bit. Not an all day smoke, but it is repeatable. Three and a half stars out of four.
