Davidoff - 50th Anniversary.

Now, being from Davidoff this cost a small fortune: £44.59. So, it's quite an expenditure should it not be enjoyed.

The tobacco's held in a thick cellophane bag inside the tin. The thickness makes it a swine to open, the seal wouldn't break by hand, so scissors to the rescue! The aroma's mostly the Crème De Cassis in the Kir Royal, there's hardly any vanilla. It's a very coarse cut mixture, is mainly Burley and Virginias, and has perfect hydration.

So, the smoke's mainly VaBurs, I get hardy any black Cavendish. But, the tobaccos aren't what this is about. This is a stolid aromatic. The strength of flavour comes from the Crème De Cassis in the Kir Royal; sharp, acidic, blackberries. The vanilla sits, firmly, in the back row. I notice hardly any vanilla. This is a shame as some more vanilla might 'tame' it, but the miniscule amount seems innocuous. It burns independently, needing little maintenance, and although strongly flavoured I don't get much bite.

Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note: quite nice.

So, 50th Anniversary. Does it justify the price? No. Somewhat recommended:

Two stars.

His taste delights our senses and our minds. It makes us travel to wonderland where the trees are only blackcurrant colines and the grass of the savannahs of vanilla branches but apart from its very powerful aromatization, the tobacco that one smokes is not made to feel much. So smoker of aromatics this tobacco is made for you otherwise go your way. the only negative point of this tobacco is its box with which one is obliged to open with the chisel, which does not make a good box for the conservation then envisage a hermetic box to transfer it.
