A very rustic tobacco, from its rough coin-cut (some coins are about 4-5mm thick, you can see this is hand-blended and cut!) over the smooth unburnt aroma of stewed fruits, earth, pepper and other spices, to the most natural and spicy-sweet flavor profile!
In the pipe the Fox Cake shines with its "rustic Virginias". Meaning they are less sweet and citrusy (albeit they do have this qualities to a certain degree), but moreso earthy, spicy, with dark, stewed fruit notes that are enhanced by the truffle-ish Perique and its musty, peppery and figgy aroma. Has a wonderful, voluminous body and rich smoke to offer! This one stands out..amongst the sheer endless shelf of Va/pers available, this one deserves to be placed in the top-shelf! ;-)
An enjoyable Va/Per bulk offering of Roman Peter. The cut looks like a kind of a Wild Cut to me, like a mix of Curly Cut, Broken Flake and Ribbon Cut. It could as well be a Ready Rubbed made of curlies, flakes or plugs. It is hard to tell.
The backbone of this mixture consists of robust, nourishing Virginias from India and Malawi. They donate a reserved degree of natural sweetness as well as little citrus and hay notes and over-all a pleasant natural tobacco aroma. I would like the Virginias to donate more of the well-known palette of Virginia flavours. There is a pleasant amount of peppery and fruity Perique in this blend, just the right dose.
To me it is an enjoyable Va/Per mixture, a notch above medium strength, that I shall certainly buy again now and then.
