For me this is the BEST amaretto flavored tobacco, yet. From all of the Michael Apitz this is far the best, the rest of his blends are overwhelming.

I was a little hesitant to buy this, but I enjoy almond/amaretto flavoring on tobacco and thought I would give this a try.

The tin is very reminiscient of a paint bucket, and seems to be fairly air tight, but I put it into a mason jar anyway, as the tobacco was a little drier at the top of the tin than it was at the bottom. I don't think any topping can evaporate faster off tobacco than almond essence, benzaldehyde, for anyone chemistry curious.

The base tobacco is very high quality, and has a lot of black but mostly brown ribbons. It is a bright brown, not drab, which tells me this is going to be one sweet smoke! The caramel topping mentioned is nowhere to be found in the tin nor when smoking.

The amaretto scent is shockingly present at first scent, and this is what I had hoped peterson's sunset breeze would be the first time I tried it, albeit it found its place for a light walk smoke. MA 7:1 is however, still second place to the almond bomb I will mention at the end of this review.

On lighting, the tobacco is hardly noticeable, and the sweet almond takes over. Wonderful stuff, but smoke it slow, or it will bite hard.

The room note smells like poppy seed almond cakes on steroids.

Very one dimensional, but very sweet and tasty.

Nicotine is mild, but usually we don't smoke an aromatic for that anyway.

This is good stuff, and a milder change of pace from the most heavily cased aromatic I ever tried, tinderbox cherry almond, which has at least triple the topping of MA 7:1, which has at least triple the topping of peterson's sunset breeze. These also are the nicotine strengths of these.

Not to disparage this blend nor sunset breeze, as depending on my mood I can select any of these three depending on just how strong I want the topping to be. For that reason I will definitely pick up more tins! Plus, this does not have any cherry. It is just straight up amaretto. The caramel is overwhelmed by the almond and undetectable, which is perfect.

I rate this as the best almond cased tobacco so far, if you don't want anything additional in the casing like cherry or brandy. This is the perfect level for an amaretto only topping and the best base tobacco for such also.

I am subtracting 1 star for bite, but add it back if you can sip it slow. This is cased a bit more strongly than blue note for comparison, and if you like blue note, but want nut vs fruit, give this one a try. The tin is awesome also, for using once the tobacco is out of it.
