Tin aroma is simple but pleasant, it smells of black cherry flavoring for pastries. It does smell natural, certainly not chemical in any unpleasant way. Now this tobacco is an aromatic for sure, but there’s no goopy black Cavendish, it consists of brown ribbons of differing hues yet my sample was moister than the other Woolfway offerings. Still it does not need any drying time to smoke and it burns completely down to the last dottle with need of only a few relights. Consist of 9 parts Izmir from Katerini Greece, 4.5 parts Virginia gold leave from Maryland, 1.5 part Burley Green River from Kentucky, 0.1 part Latakia from Egypt.
The taste is of natural tobacco enhanced with a pleasant and refreshing cherry aroma. It is nutty, sweet and has a round feel although there is a sharp edge to it possibly from the hay-like Virginia. Although Burley is only just 10% I think I can detect its chocolaty effect. As regards Latakia, I cannot detect any or possibly only at times as I occasionaly do get a smoky note. The smoke has variations and as it progresses down the bowl it becomes more tobaccoey with the cherry flavor receding.
Overall Red Summer is pleasant sweetish tobacco with a nutty taste. An easy to like tobacco for the times when you need something simple and tasteful that you do not want to think much about.
