E. A. Carey - Caribbean Flake.
My blend's appearance is a little different to the one pictured here and on the companies webpage, it's nowhere near as broken, and much darker. It looks a lot closer to their Dark Flake No.7: very similar, just slightly broken. The note from the pouch is sweet, and the moisture was good upon first opening it.
The rum has been added at just the right weight to flavour the smoke with a gentle sharpness, and molasses sweetness, but it isn't the only taste. The maple works nicely alongside it, calming any alcoholic piquancy, making the smoke sweeter. After half a bowl the maple becomes much stronger than the rum. The toppings slightly outweigh the tobacco, making it seem more aromatic than lightly flavoured. It burns cool, at a medium pace, without a bite from start to finish.
Nicotine: mild to medium. Room-note: pleasant.
A well made blend that deserves four stars:
Highly recommended.
