Primeur is the first out of 3 very generous samples Mr. Vogel did send me along with a personal message! That's the kind of customer-service, thats remarkably, makes you smile and let you order again from them. Motzek, or HU f.e. also do so!

When taking a nose from the sample-baggie, the first thing I notice is a honey-ish sweetness, that has a slight "danish" character. Not overly sweet, but it's there as a base. Also a slight sourness with hints of dried fruits is what I perceive.

The ready rubbed tobacco comes in perfect condition, has a various colours to it from golden-yellow, to intense brown and black. Handling is just as easy as lighting and keeping lit.

On first light, I immediatly noticed the Orientals in it. Even tho the Orientals are rather subtle, they are present throughout the smoke and deliver a delightful flavour. Sour and dry, very herbal with ethereal-oilyness to it. I don't know which varietal they used, but it's well integrated in the taste and rich in flavours. As a base a honeyish sweetness is also present throughout the whole filling, which I find to be very natural and it might well be real honey applied to the blend. It's never obtrusive and harmonizes very well with the Orientals, but even better with the Burley in the blend. The Burley very nutty flavour melts to one with the honey-sweetness and results in a taste like sweet nuts. The Perique is a minor player and gives slight pepper and very little fruitiness, that harmonizes with the sourness from the Orientals.

To be honest, I'm really impressed by this blend! It's what I'd consider a great introduction into the world of Orientals, due to it's rich and flavourful Orientals, that yet are never obtrusive or harsh and the honey-tone, that really make this a easy, uncomplicated smoke, that can also easily be enjoyed when not concentrating on the smoke. When you do, there are refined flavours to explore and detect, but this is very well "All-Day"-suitable.
