Sutliff Tobacco Company Natural Cavendish #10
(2.33)
Where some tobaccos are heavily cased in alcohol flavourings, this has only been given a touch of cognac atop a blend of Burleys and Virginias, making for a mild, aromatic smoke.

Sutliff Tobacco Co. - Natural Cavendish #10.
A well rubbed out ribbon, that's mostly medium brown, with a few lighter flecks. This was cellared for about a month prior to opening and was still a little too moist, despite being loosely pouched.
The cognac could be ascertained from the pouch note, but not heavily. That's the way the smoke works: the cognac's presence can't be argued with, but it doesn't 'catch the back of my throat', like stronger alcoholic aro's can. The rest of the flavour's honey-sweet, and nutty. The burn from #10 is good, giving a typically cool Cavendish smoke.
Nicotine: mild. Room-note: pleasant.
Quite good, but seems mundane after half a bowl. Two stars:
Somewhat recommended.

The earthy, nutty, woody, lightly molasses sweet burleys take a small lead. The Virginias provide some tart and tangy citrus, grass, honey, light earth, tangy dark fruit and wood, and a slight floral note as a supporting player. The cognac topping mildly sublimates the tobaccos, and synergistically helps create a very consistent smoothly sweet flavor from top to bottom. The strength and nicotine levels are mild. The taste is a step past that mark. Won’t bite or get harsh. Has a couple of very small rough edges. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with short lived, pleasant after taste, and room note. Leaves little dampness in the bowl, and requires an average number of relights. An all day smoke that might make a good mixer, too.

This blend is a hidden gem for pipe smokers. A Cavendish tobacco made of Virginia and burley with a light topping of cognac. I have only one complaint in that it's too moist. Other than that, it provides a mildly sweet smoke that isn't cloying. It's pure tobacco taste and it doesn't disappoint
