Peter Heinrichs No. 29

(2.00)
This mixture consists of very mild burley tobaccos, which get roasted after treating it with a sweet sauce. After the tobacco is stored under pressure for a long period, it gets cut in a special way to get small, quadrangular pieces. Extra mild.

Re-visited this blend today, as I snatched a sample of it... first smoked it in my early piping days. Now that I'm a Burley-Boy all the way I was excited how this would perform now.

First off: This definetly has a mild, sweet topping of some sort! Sticking your nose into the pile of well crafted Cube-Cuts reveals caramel, honey, almost pastry and cookie-ish aroma with little spice. I was expecting this to be goopy sweet as my memory of this blend had vanished.

But to my suprise it isn't overly sweet and has some nice spiciness to it! The cubes are quite moist, I gave them some 1-2 hours of drying in forehand. Even then it wasn't too easy to get this going. Several lights later I was enjoying a spicy, caramell-y and almost pasty/cookie-ish tobacco. It tastes of caramelized nuts, seasoned with some nice, almost peppery spice that counteracts the sweet qualitites and keeps this from being a full-grown aromatic blend. Slight nuances of chocolate as well and some earthy backbone.

Thisis some "semi-aromatic" blend. Won't make my rotation, but a good blend nontheless, that I'll recommend to aromatic smokers who want to lean towards spicier blends. Or natural blends smokers, who like a sweet treat by times. Not bad! It's not "extra-mild" as stated in the description, it's on thelower half of medium. Both in taste and nicotine.
