No idea what the other review is talking about. This blend is truly UNIQE and if you can get some GET SOME. Packing is easy. Nice loose flakes. Not only is the tobacco high quality but definitely has some age on it. Deer tongue is GORGEOUS. Adds some vanilla and herby smoothness unlike any other blend. Medium nic hit and rich. Just like Brigham’s history!

Feb 21, 2017 Strong Mild to Medium Very Full Pleasant
The cut is a rather loose flake that prepares and packs quite well. In the tin, the tobacco is mostly dark brown / red, with black specks and some green bits which i suppose are the deer tongue. The tin note, at first, is typical dark fired smokiness (pepper?) combined with the vanilla-bitter profile of deer tongue. With some airing time, the sharpness subdues and the deer tongue comes to dominate the bouquet, and the tin starts smelling oddly like coconut. On charring light, the taste is very full, quite bitter and spicy, with a creamy mouth feel and an underlying sweetness. The first 5 minutes into the bowl, the dark fired and the perique are at the forefront. The smokiness of the DF combines with the peperry side of the Perique (no figs here) to create a spicy and sharp taste. Once the bowl settles down a little, the sweetness of the virginias come into play to make it a much more balanced smoke. I cannot really detect the taste of deer tongue. As the bowl progresses, the sharp notes and the sweetness merge and turn into a nutty, malty profile reminiscent of burley, wiht some resinous undertones. The room note is strong but quite pleasant, maybe due to the deer tongue, otherwise i find it similar to the aroma of some VaPers with some baked goods sweetness present. This tobacco will NOT leave you with a clean mouth as they say, it tends to leave a rather acrid, creosote-ish taste, so stay away from your loved ones ! The deertongue left a slight ghost on my pipe, hence the Cob. Overall, a very full, very robust blend, and even though the ''style'' is not quite the same as Old Dark Fired or NightCap, i think it somehow falls in the same ''mood'' category.

2017-07-08 UPDATE: after 5 months in the jar, this blend has turned into smth completely different. It has mellowed considerably, the sweetness is now at the forefront, the dark fired has taken a step back, the perique remains present with some peperry spice when puffed harder, and still contributes to that full bodied feel. This tobacco really burns well, 2 matches took me through a small bowl, with big clouds of grey-ish smoke. It can burn a little hot at times, so a slower cadence is the trick. To get the most flavour out of this, exhaling both through the mouth AND nose at the same time really worked wonders. I will not change my rating, since i feel giving it 3 stars at 1st might have been too generous considering that i still felt this was one of my least favorite tobaccos in my cellar, so let's say it went from a solid 2 1/2 to 3 1/4 stars
