J. F. Germain & Son Full Latakia
(4.00)
A fantastic full strength tobacco made with Cyprus Latakia. Great for adding that extra cool, smoky hit, to your blend.
Notes: The Germains Full Latakia is a premium Cyprian Latakia leaf with the usual distinctive leathery, tarry odour accompanied by a characterful smokey flavour, which is due to a long curing process over smokey fires. Germains have sufficiently moistened the tobacco to provide a clean, cool smoke.
It is usually added to a blend in small proportions to add extra character and complexity to a blend, it is not generally smoked pure by even the most avid Latakia enthusiasts.

J. F. Germain - Full Latakia.
I bought this with the idea of mixing it with a tin Robert McConnell Pure Virginia I have only smoked a few bowls of, to spice it up some; it will certainly do that!
This review's based on a few bowls smoked straight, which isn't that bad. It tastes high quality: very smoky with an imperious woody note- like the typically STRONG cedarness often found from Latakias. After a few bowls I notice that unlike some of the Latakias' I've smoked neat, this lacks the horrible 'fishiness' I got from a few of them. The temperature of the smoke's low, so it would calm down a hot burning blend. It might make a bitey blend more insouciant too, as this hasn't got a bite in it!
There's lots of nicotine, and when smoked neat the room-note's as you would expect: full.
Granted, I couldn't pipe this straight regularly, but it's a good quality blender.
Highly recommended.
