Up All Night is made with easy-smoking American white burley, chosen for its bite-free qualities. It includes a top-note of the most traditional flavoring used in pipe tobacco- the sweet and tangy taste of mellow rum for a great aroma.
This blend like most of the others in the series, lacks a soul. It feels like a cash grab with poor quality leaf hidden behind a heavy hand of topping. Not as gloopy as some of the others, but still heavily topped/cased with a flavor you might get in a pump at the coffee shop. The cheap price belies the cheap ingredients in this blend.
I selected this last night as on Sundays I like an aromatic! Anyhoo, in the tin, concealed below a clear, plastic, cap, sits a blend made of mid-size ribbons with a lot of larger, leafier, pieces too. It has a mild rummy aroma, but nothing which implies a heavy casing. My tin's moistness was perfect.
Up All Night ignites easily and gives a pleasant smoke. The white Burley comes over with a mild, slightly arid, dry, character. Don't expect any Burley sweetness, there's none here. The rum topping gives a little saccharinity, a touch of molasses, but hardly any alcohol. So, don't ready yourself for a smoke like G H rum Flake. There's nothing disdainable about the burn, it does so perfectly. The smoke's quite dry, and remains bite-free throughout a bowl.
This Burley blend is a very mild smoke. It had no bite and a very mild, subtle taste of rum hiding in the background. This smoke was not too exciting for my taste. I like more intensity; this was just so so. This smoke was almost bland compared to most other blends that I smoke. If this was the only tobacco left on Earth I would smoke it, but I would try to spice it up with something to tickle my taste buds more. I won't probably buy this in the future, but I'm not going to count it out entirely because I'm sure for another this could be their go to smoke.
